Great SSD for the price

SanDisk 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SD6SB1M-128G-1022i
SanDisk 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SD6SB1M-128G-1022i

Pros: 128GB SSD is suitable for booting the OS. I needed it to replace my Linux server's HD. Shrinking the partition and cloning the drive was easy (with the right tools), and in no time my server was back up and running. My friend who was in the hard drive business told me that industrial strength just means it's been tested longer and is less likely to fail.

Cons: SSD prices are still considerably higher than magnetic storage drives, but the lifespan of the drive and reduced load should help balance that out, along with reduced worry of drive failure for my server.

Overall Review: After cloning the server, I moved most of the filesystem to my RAID 10 array and used symlinks to those folders. I moved home, opt, srv, usr, var, and my swap files to the RAID array. /tmp is already mounted in tmpfs (RAM), so it doesn't write to the drive. This means the server has many fewer writes to the root filesystem, and the SSD should last a very long time. My root filesystem is now under 1 GB. As parts of the SSD invariably fail, other unused chunks should take their place. Hopefully this means my SSD will outlive my server.
