Pros: Good range. Easy to configure. Runs cool. Inexpensive, got this at a local B&M for 25 bucks after MIR.
Cons: Bright activity lights (so bright you cannot read the legend). Short power cord. Both minor flaws.
Other Thoughts: I use this for a ethernet based home office, and as a wifi connection to a laptop, a tablet, and sometimes my phone. I get up to 130Mbps wireless connections when I am in the same room as the router, in the rest of the house I get between 30Mbps and 65Mbps. This is through a couple of walls. Better than the 2wire600 it replaced. Also, my VOIP client runs flawlessly.
So many choices in this category, dual band, AC, etc. When it came down to it, my wireless clients really determined what I bought. All my wireless devices are N only, and only my phone supports 5Ghz. So why spend all the money on a brute of as router?
Pros: This thing is a beast! 8 cores @ 4.2 Ghz. No need to overclock. Noticeably faster than the 955BE it replaced.
Cons: Processor - no cons. Stock Cooler - can get loud when running CPU intensive tasks, but it does the job.
Other Thoughts: I installed this on an ASUS 990x EVO 2 motherboard with 16GB Patriot ram. No issues with this configuration. I'm using the stock cooler, it can get loud but I have a 'silent' case which minimizes the sound. Also the cooler bursts are short just when I compile or scan a disk etc. If you are running cpu intensive games, the fan noise could be an issue though, so budget for a different cooler. My setup (developer box), Antec Solo II case, Corsair HX 750 PS, FX-8350, Asus 990x EVO 2 MB, 16GB Patriot Black Mamba memory, EVGA 9800GT video, SB Audigy, Corsair Force GT SSD, Samsung F2 1.5 GB data drive. Running Win 8, not issues with hardware or software.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Antec Sonata Series SOLO II Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Pros: Extremely well built. Great size, a true mid tower. Perfect to build a monster that looks like a sleeper.
Cons: Pricey, but got this at a local B&M for 60 clams. Fingerprint magnet. Front bezel is hard to clean (took an egg off for this). Clean cable management is tricky, but possible.
Other Thoughts: I fitted the 2 front fan bays with Antec truequiet 120s, and the rear with an Enermax magma. Lots of airflow, low noise. This case keeps the CPU and video card fan noise to a minimum. Installed an FX 8350, Asus EVO 2 MB, 16GB DDR3 ram, HX750, 9800GT, SB Audigy, SDD, 2 hard drives and a DVD burner. Stock cooler on CPU and video card. Temps are fine, noise level is low.READ FULL REVIEW
