It was worth the wait!
Pros: High quality super fast SSD! Even the packaging was impressive. The actual SSD with the beautiful heat sink exudes quality; heavy and compact, Intel is trying to make a statement. Faster than my Samsung 960 Pro by about three times. Random IOPS about 400,000 mb/sec The fastest SSD I've ever used. Plug it in to a PCIe slot, instruct the BIOS to boot from this drive, and it works. I installed Windows 10 Pro in about 6 minutes! Makes for a very "snappy" computer that is a joy to use. One note.... Using a GPT format results in twice the speed as compared to the old MRB format, so be sure to format the drive with GPT.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: I have many fast computers at home and at work, and eventually they will all have Optane!
Dissapointing
Pros: Great if you are using a Hard Disk Drive and have a Kaby Lake CPU and Z270 chipset.
Cons: If you have a Kaby Lake CPU and a Z270 chipset, why would you then use a HDD. Mostly useless device. Also, it will not boot the computer when a bare OS is installed on the drive, and the device is being used as a normal SSD. Used as a normal SSD, the random read performance is quite good, but everything else is slower than a normal M.2 NVMe drive. This Intel device is designed to be used with the Intel software and configured as a cache for a HDD.
Overall Review: For those users who have the latest CPU's and chipset, AND, are using a HDD, I guess it's a worthwhile device. However, I don't believe that there will be many users that need this device. If you have the latest CPU's and chipset, Samsung's 850 EVO goes to 4 TB, and would be faster than a cached HDD.
Magical SSD
Pros: Fast, consistent, doesn't bog down with mixed reads and writes. Easy to install; I made an Image first, plugged it in and Restored the image. Works perfectly! And did I mention that it is FAST! Beautiful packaging and a beautiful piece of hardware; Gorgeous!
Cons: No Cons.
Overall Review: Yes, if you have a need for really fast reads and writes using complicated software.
High end NVMe drive with a nifty heatsink.
Pros: Very good benchmarks; similar to a 960 EVO. Team Group had the insight to provide this NVMe SSD with a very effective heatsink; the best available right now. Adding a heatsink to a M.2 drive, results in faster and more consistent performance.
Cons: None found.
Overall Review: A good choice for a high end NVMe, and usually more available than Samsung, AND, it has a heatsink.
Highest Quality Cooler, PERIOD!
Pros: From the careful packaging, to the well thought out design, and the very high quality of each component, this beautiful cooler is sure to impress. Great solid mounting system with a strong back plate and studs that go through the motherboard to provide a permanent attachment for the heat sink and fan assembly that should survive any shipping environment. Easy and high quality attachment of the heat sink assembly to the CPU socket after the conductive paste is applied. With the fan removed, placement of the heat sink is straight forward and the spring loaded mounting screws are easily accessed with a screw driver. High quality throughout, with the copper parts soldered and Nickel plated. An exceptionally beautiful assembly that is almost silent in operation. Unless you put your ear right up to the fan, you can't hear this very quiet cooler. The four wire PWM (pulse width modulation) fan is beautifully controlled by the motherboard, and provides more than adequate cooling for the new Skylake processors. This compact assembly should fit even in the smallest cases. One of the best computer components I've ever purchased in 25 years of building computers. It will put a smile on your face.
Cons: None, and I even like the pleasant soft colors.
Overall Review: I would strongly recommend this product to others, and I will certainly buy it again!
ASUS a OK again!
Pros: This is my 5th ASUS assembly in the last 12 months and again everything worked! Four Sandy Bridge CPU's and One Ivy Bridge CPU. This time I used an ASUS Z77 LE with an Ivy Bridge i7-3770K. Every new computer assembly has some anxiety due to the inescapable fact that one tiny mistake can ruin everything. A small slip with a screwdriver or a tiny imperfection with a connector, can make things go wrong. Putting together a new computer takes patience, skill, and very good eyesight. And most of all, ASUS needs to produce a perfect motherboard for everything to work properly. Five good computers in a row! Everything worked and I'm overclocked at 4364 MHz with air cooling and everything is solid and cool.
Cons: The ASUS support site did not automatically identify correctly the model motherboard I am using. This resulted in downloading the wrong BIOS file... fortunately, the ASUS software was smart enough not to overwrite the old BIOS with the wrong file. When I picked out the correct motherboard from a list on their support site, I was able to download and install the correct BIOS file for my motherboard.
Overall Review: Excellent quality from ASUS. Five new builds without any problems!
Scam; never received item and my money was never refunded.
Dishonest Vendor... stay away.
