This review is from: ASUS P8Z77-V LE LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: This is my 5th ASUS assembly in the last 12 months and again everything worked!
Four Sandy Bridge CPU's and One Ivy Bridge CPU. This time I used an ASUS Z77 LE with an Ivy Bridge i7-3770K.
Every new computer assembly has some anxiety due to the inescapable fact that one tiny mistake can ruin everything. A small slip with a screwdriver or a tiny imperfection with a connector, can make things go wrong. Putting together a new computer takes patience, skill, and very good eyesight. And most of all, ASUS needs to produce a perfect motherboard for everything to work properly. Five good computers in a row! Everything worked and I'm overclocked at 4364 MHz with air cooling and everything is solid and cool.
Cons: The ASUS support site did not automatically identify correctly the model motherboard I am using. This resulted in downloading the wrong BIOS file... fortunately, the ASUS software was smart enough not to overwrite the old BIOS with the wrong file. When I picked out the correct motherboard from a list on their support site, I was able to download and install the correct BIOS file for my motherboard.
Other Thoughts: Excellent quality from ASUS. Five new builds without any problems!READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Good product, well made and inexpensive. Large diameter high quality cables and connectors. The additional one meter of cable length does not effect speed. This is a very good and easy solution for a motherboard that doesn't have an internal USB 3.0 header. Nifty rear exit for cables.
Other Thoughts: Now I don't have to climb around to get to the back of my computer to use my USB 3.0 devices!
With time, all computer cases and motherboards will provide for a front panel USB 3.0 connection, however, this is a great workaround.
Pros: I am impressed with the quality of this ASUS motherboard. I've tried every socket and feature and everything seems to function perfectly. I'm using an Intel i7-2600K and enjoying the performance with the factory default settings.
Cons: Boots twice when overclocked. Perhaps a BIOS upgrade will fix this problem. Also, Windows 7 Sleep mode doesn't work when the system is overclocked. I've gone back to the default settings.
I like the mouse driven BIOS interface.
Other Thoughts: I've assembled two ASUS motherboards this month and both worked well. I'm dissapointed that I read that some users have had problems; however, assembling a motherboard and a computer requires careful attention to detail and a fair amount of skill. Sometimes it is the user that is at fault. A thorough read of the manual is often very helpful.READ FULL REVIEW
