Couldn't ask for better RAM

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

Pros: • Lightning-fast DDR3 1600mhz speed. Coming from a DDR2 800mhz system, this RAM (among other parts) annihilates my old system. • Price-to-performance. Compared to high-end RAM such as 2400mhz and up, this is an excellent compromise between speed and price-per-GB. • Looks. Of course this is based on personal taste, but I think the Ripjaws X series of RAM is one of the sharpest looking RAM modules I've seen. • Warranty. A lifetime warranty by G.Skill is unbelievable. That just tells you how solid of RAM that this is.

Cons: • Timing adjustments. I think this can greatly vary from motherboard to motherboard, but mine incorrectly displayed the timings as 11-11-11-28 (or something like that). No worries, however - all you have to do is enter the BIOS and adjust the timings to the correct 9-9-9-24 and load XMP. Mine was set to auto, yet it was still giving the incorrect timings.

Overall Review: Overall, this has been solid, stable RAM for 6 months and counting. I couldn't be happier with this RAM, and G.Skill's customer service. Definitely 5 eggs from me! :)

Quiet, Fast, Stable HDD with Tons of Space

Western Digital Caviar Green WD15EZRX 1.50 TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
Western Digital Caviar Green WD15EZRX 1.50 TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: • Price-per-GB. For the 1.5TB of space you get with this drive, it is a great value. • Quiet. The WD Green series is WD's low-power, quiet HDD. It's not silent, as it's an HDD so it has a mechanical noise that all hard-disk drives have. But compared to most, this HDD is as quiet as some laptop hard drives. • Stable. I've only owned this drive for 6~ months, but so far it has been performing flawlessly. • Fast. It's Western Digital's slowest drive, but it's definitely not slow. While it's not a WD Black or Blue series, this drive has decent speed that works perfect as a data/secondary hard drive, but could easily be used as a boot drive too.

Cons: • Random pausing. The only con I have about this drive is its tendency to occasionally pause. What I mean by this is a few times a day (every couple of hours) this drive makes a mechanical noise almost like it does when it reads/writes data. Sometimes at random, other times when I access something such as the disk drive (C:, E:, etc) in Windows Explorer. When it does this, it pauses everything on my computer that was currently loading, until the noise stops, then it resumes. I don't remember 100% if my old system did this, it might have. This might be a completely normal function of hard drives for all I know.

Overall Review: This has been a great storage drive for me. 1.5TB is a good amount of space, and was just what I needed as I now already used 1.2TB of it in 6 months. For most people, 1.5TB is plenty of space for years worth of storage, however. While I use it as a storage drive rather than a boot drive, this could definitely be used as a main boot drive as I have no complaints at the speed. I have all of my games loaded to it and the loading times are pretty fast. 5 eggs for this drive (as long as it doesn't fail on me!) :D
