A fair choice

MSI X58 Platinum SLI LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
MSI X58 Platinum SLI LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: If you need to get an x58 motherboard but don't want to spend a lot of money, this is the one to get. When running at standard settings without any bios changes, it seems to work just fine. Nice LEDs on the board, LOTS of USB ports, plenty of SATA ports and 2 full speed PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots with an extra slot between them for cooling.

Cons: BIOS is very finicky and can sometimes go into a constant reboot until you reset it if you change it. Chipset runs kind of hot. Doesn't come with Diagnostic LEDs for when something messes up. Does NOT overclock well (does memory just fine if you want to get it up to 1600, but other than that....)

Overall Review: If you want to overclock, spend the extra money and get a better board.

Excellent case

Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and All-Black Interior
Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and All-Black Interior

Pros: -Very roomy, great for any newbie who isn't use to squeezing their fingers into tight spaces -Mostly tool-less (see other thoughts) -Great front panel connections -Pretty quiet Quick rundown -6 Tool-less drive bays with 1 5.25"-3.5" converter -3 x 320mm fans -1 x 120mm fan -5 3.5" internal HDD bays -Cable management holes -Can fit uATX to extended ATX

Cons: -No dust filters -Tool-less features aren't always the most secure option and they aren't easily removable -No way to turn LEDs on case on or off -SO MANY CONNECTIONS on the front panel that I no longer have any free USB headers (which is okay I guess) -Bright power and HDD activity LEDs -Non-removable motherboard tray -No option to "upside down" mount the PSU to help draw hot air out of the case

Overall Review: The tool-less bays, expansion slots and HDD trays are a great idea. With the bays all it takes is a press of the button and the drive isn't coming out. However it isn't the most secure and getting them off is a pain. Thankfully you can still easily screw in the drive from the other side and not need to worry about it. The HDD trays felt pretty flimsy and I had a bit of trouble getting the anti-vibration pads to sit nicely on my drive, but I haven't heard it since. Finally, the clips to hold in expansion cards almost need to be pried a little bit to get them to sit properly on a graphics card, but once you get them in, they ain't goin' nowhere. I opted for them over screws because they stick out of the case if they aren't down.

Best Note/Netbook purchase ever

MSI Wind U100-432US Black Intel Atom N270(1.60 GHz) 10.0" WSVGA 1GB Memory 160GB HDD Netbook
MSI Wind U100-432US Black Intel Atom N270(1.60 GHz) 10.0" WSVGA 1GB Memory 160GB HDD Netbook

Pros: Small, Lightweight, easy to carry. Runs all I can throw at it as well as some mild gaming (Think Counter Strike:Condition Zero, not Half Life 2, though I'm sure it could on all low). Battery life is great on this, about 5 hours if you don't use wireless and have the screen turned down. Easy to type on also

Cons: Stutters a little bit on 720p Hi-Def video Battery sticks out Case it comes with holds only the netbook and nothing else and comes with no strap whatsoever (aka, its zippable padding) Click"bar" is one bar over 2 buttons so you can't simulate a middle click by pressing both at once.

Overall Review: I originally purchased this to take with me on a trip to Washington DC with me. I chose the MSI wind because it was one of the only netbooks to have an almost full size right shift key and a 92% full size keyboard which made it really easy to adjust to. I found this netbook great to have beside my bed to play internet radio or movies on hulu (not Hi-def :-/) as I dozed off. If you are going to get a netbook, get this one. Plus it runs OS X REALLY well (okay, kind of well. It cuts off parts of larger windows and some drivers are missing)
