Pros: easy setup, stable. More USB than I can use. Firewire works well with external sound card that can be fussy. It is a very pretty board. My son was mad at me for putting it in a windowless case. It's been a while since I built a system, this fired up without a hitch. BIOS is slick, system control/monitoring tools a nice touch. 650W PSU, Core7, 16 GB, WIN7 PRO 64, OCZ Vertex 3 boot drive, Seagate Barracuda data drives, recycled video for now. Other than video, windows experience in upper 7 range.
Cons: Won't recover from suspend in Win7. Not that big a deal since it boots faster than my old XP box recovered from suspend.
Overall Review: Chipset limits mean if you set up any drives as RAID they all go to RAID mode, so you need to load RAID drivers before WIn7. I used Windows to set up just the Data drives RAID0, works like a champ. Not much info on the BT GO! feature. What is it good for? iPhone app looks cool, but not much real use for me.
Nice bay but fan noisy
Pros: Easy way too make use of all those 5.25" bays. Easy installation of bay and drives
Cons: Fan is noisy on low. I go for a quiet system with fans on auto, the fan in this bay is the only reason I hear my system.
Works great
Pros: Gigabit x 24 up and running in minutes - made a noticeable improvement on throughput even on 100Mbps links compared to Linsksys RV082 with Netgear and Linksys unmanaged switches. Application is a medical office with 7-10 users accessing the same Access based EMR database.
Cons: fan noise and heat - should have thought of this when setting up my network rack. Why aren't Jumbo frames on by default?
Overall Review: Webview works for me with IE7. Just a couple of boxes that don't display the full value until you hit the pull down. Probably coud get by with an unmanaged switch. Haven't used advanced features yet, Planning to use Link Aggregation to database servers.
