5 out of 5 eggs Works perfectly 06/28/2014

This review is from: Rosewill RDRD-14001 3.5" HDD Mounting Kit

Pros: Inexpensive and very functional. Very sturdy steel brackets. No issues at all when adding a drive to the 5.25" drive bays. The fit was excellent for my Lian Li case drive bay. Even allows HDD adjust inward far enough to not interfere with the drive bay cover. The anti-vibration rubbers come with shoulder screws and do what they're suppose to. I noticed a lot of the other manufactures brackets did not have these and cost more. I had concerns about additional HDD noise but I can't even tell I moved it. This is mounted in my media sever which sits right beside me and runs continuously and still, very quietly. I'm very satisfied with these and could only wish my luck was this good when it comes to the silicon lottery!

Cons: None

Pros: Real nice heavy duty extruded heat sinks that are easily REMOVABLE. Kit has set screws on the ends that retain them which makes it nice if you don't want/need the HS's. These run at 26c (ambient 23c) for everyday use and haven't seen anything above low to mid 30's when stress testing in my rig listed below. These are by far the most stable kit (at stock voltage) running 8-9-9-24-33-1T, 1879MHz @ 1.600v on my Crosshair V Formula-Z with a FX 8350 running 4813MHz. I own seven sets of G.Skill ram and these are simply amazing. No additional voltage needed to run AMD platform. When compared to the competition the lower latency and 1.6v leaves lots of headroom to those who know how to play. These will out perform a lot of the 8GB kits timings and when joined with the fact it's 16GBs it makes it a no brainer. Absolutely no issues while OCing, even during the last two weeks of continuous stress testing. Never had a set of ram play so friendly. A great kit to upgrade to 16GB with.

Cons: Even thou the shipping box was undamaged the contents (only this kit) was found with broken/opened inner container. The hard plastic child proof package appears to have been either opened without caution or intentionally damaged before it was shipped. The shipping box was full of wadded paper which easily should have protected item during shipping. This plus the fact the outer box was completely undamaged tends to make me feel as if someone had taken this kit and folded the ram container packaging out of spite. Luckily it was broke just at the end of the boards. All seems fine so far but how does one really know? For this much cash I would think both G.Skill and Newegg would do everything in their power to assure a safe delivery. This is the first time I've seen anything like this. I've read somewhere in these reviews that others have had CPU's arrive with broken seals. I'm not saying this is actually happening but it does make me wonder.

5 out of 5 eggs Great mother board fan! 02/06/2012

This review is from: Scythe SY1212SL12L 120mm Case cooler

Pros: 12mm thickness is what you'll need for a fan to go behind the mobo tray in a Xigmatek Elysium and most other cases. Air movement is ideal for this purpose. I saw a drop in the CPU Socket temp of 2-3c and cores see 1c drop. It's more about how the SB, NB and VRMs stay noticeably cooler. My rig is WC'd and runs very quiet. The addition of this fan is very noticeable in the high pitch whine of it's sound when run at 100% but I use a Sunbeam Rheosmart 6 channel fan controller (also bought here at the egg) and when dialed down to 980 rpm, the noise disappears while leaving more than enough cooling performance. No ticking noise when dialed down, and runs smooth and quiet. Performs very well and has my recommendation.

Cons: None
