Fan is noisy...
Pros: Same as before
Cons: Same as before
Overall Review: The fan is starting to bother me. It is starting to feel as if it runs fast too often. I can hear the noise. Wonder if there is anything that can be done, including installing a different fan. I keep the computer on with Linux Mint 10 and XBMC connected to a Sony LCD HDTV (1080p) The ION temp is at about 150F. It should be lower, perhaps, and still the fan should not be running that fast (I have two other ION nettops without this issue).
Do not buy
Pros: Good processor nice format, size
Cons: Noisy fan (even behind the tv, used for htpc)
Overall Review: Computer died 18 months after purchase. Won't boot beyond trying to recognize USB ports. Contacted Jetway tech support and tried everything they suggested nthey were quite responsive. Then, they told me to contact a different department for an RMA (return authorization for fixing/replacing). Their reply? Only machines bought directly from them are covered with warranty. If you buy from this company or anyone else you are on your own. I replie requesting an explanation of what I consider improper policy. They have not replied anymore. I have found that my boot issue has been experienced by others. At least one person reported a good experience. Perhaps mine is the exception. I already bought a zotag. Much, much better. I have two now.
Update on my experience
Pros: Good quality case (not so hard to open), rather quiet machine (GPU runs a bit hot and fan spins a bit, but you don't hear it while watching TV). Size, colors and overall look is nice, goes well with my equipment.
Cons: Figured out the front panel connections (left a message with Habey, to-date no response). Problem is that there are no labels on the board, the drawing on the manual is not like what you see on the board, and the acronyms are not standard. Installed Linux Mint Julia (Ubuntu 10.10) and XBMC, sound over HDMI was hard to figure out. Wish it had more than only 2 USB ports (one for remote, one for keyboard, done).
Overall Review: Very nice HTPC option. I added a solid state 32GB HDD and 2 GB ram. The machine is very fast, the picture is nice. I'm happy overall.
Half way done...
Pros: Cute small form HTPC.
Cons: Have not been able to test it yet. The cables for the front panel (power, led, hDD) came disconnected. The manual is absent in the CD and the pdf I downloaded from Habey's website is very poorly written. It is not clear how I should connect anything. Quite annoying. I will update this when and if I manage to get this started. (any help out there from current users - how do I connect the darn cables?) hugely appreciated.
