Screen dead

Acer Aspire One AO756-4854 Ash Black Intel Pentium 967(1.30 GHz) 11.6" 4GB DDR3 Memory 500GB HDD Netbook
Acer Aspire One AO756-4854 Ash Black Intel Pentium 967(1.30 GHz) 11.6" 4GB DDR3 Memory 500GB HDD Netbook

Pros: Seemed like a great value(prive vs performance). Looked good, too.

Cons: Screen died on me. After about a month the screen went blank. Computer boots up(can hear fans and can see power lights, optical drives spins up, too) but nothing on screen at all(no POST, no Windows, nothing). Have tried all the usual stuff. Opened it up and checked cable connections. Did some research online and apparently this happens to Acers?

Overall Review: Unfortunately, by time my mom(whom I bought this for) let me know about this it had been a few months, so not sure what trying to send back to Acer might look like. Saw a suggested fix related to updating BIOS, so may try that next. Would love to hear from anybody else with ideas!

Seemed good, until LCD quit on me

Pros: Good looks, good specs for the price. I'd read the reviews, had another Acer in the past, so was looking forward to good value on this one.

Cons: LCD quit on me. See below for more details.

Overall Review: After a few weeks the LCD just died out on me. Boots up fine, power lights work, optical drive spins up, but nothing on screen at all. I held power button down for minute to discharge(per some research I've done) -- didn't work. I've completely discharged battery -- didn't work. Opened it up and checked LCD cables -- all looked fine to me. Only thing I haven't tried is a BIOS update. Expect to be working with Acer support soon so am crossing my fingers they don't jerk me around. I'll post an update as this progresses.
