Pros: Inexpensive and runs on only 1 USB cable. Connected to ASUS 1008HA netbook and was immediately picked up by the BIOS and I was able to boot to the DVD. Burned first CD on AC power then burned a CD and DVD using battery power. Everything burned and worked perfectly. Cable storage in the bottom of the drive is nice.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I have read that netbooks don't have enough USB power to burn DVDs. This drive burns CDs and DVDs without needing AC power so either this drive is very efficient or the 1008HA has more USB power than other netbooks. Either way, this drive is a great accessory for my netbook.
Good while it lasted
Pros: Nice cable with caps to protect the ends while in storage
Cons: Both ends of the cable are coming apart. Sometimes the drive is recognized and other times I have to wiggle the cable for the drive to be seen.
Overall Review: Had it for about 3 months and it's only used a couple times a week. It's possible that I just got a bad cable but I won't buy another one.
Pros: It runs Windows 7 well and is quicker that what I expected from a 1.66GHz processor. The keyboard has a solid feel to it. Touchpad is very nice and supports multi-touch which is great for scrolling and zooming. Battery life is running about 4.5 hours which is more than I'll need it for.
Cons: The design of the case is the worst I've seen. It's small, sleek, and very nice to use but... Replacing the RAM, hard drive, or battery requires voiding the warrnty. I've looked at other ASUS netbooks and they don't suffer from this poor design. This is what stopped my from giving it a rating of 5. The drive is partitioned odd. C drive is 100GB and D drive is 122.87GB. This seems to be fairly common so it's not an issue specific to this netbook.
Overall Review: This is a great netbook for those not interested in upgrading or replacing components. If you want to upgrade the RAM, then do some searching to see what's required before you purchase. It comes with a restore CD but you'll need to buy a DVD drive to use it.
