Not compatible with USB 3.0 enabled MacBook Air 5,1
Pros: Compact Size
Cons: Not compatible with USB 3.0 enabled Macs
Overall Review: I purchased two of these, and both would cause my Mid-2012 MacBook Air (with USB 3.0) to hang when they were inserted. USB 2.0 enabled Macs and Windows PC's functioned fine. I wrote the manufacturer and they confirmed an incapability with my USB 3.0 enabled MacBook Air and suggested I return them. Not sure if this is a PQI Problem or an Apple Problem, so I'm rating a 3 as they work perfectly with USB 2.0 computers.
Poor reseller and possibly a counterfeit product.
I would not recommend this reseller. I have ordered Crucial-brand memory many times in the past, usually directly from crucial. This time the only way to get it was through Ram-Store on Newegg. When the memory arrived it was poorly packed in a bubble envelope from China and the memory itself was not in a sealed anti-static bag like normal, but in a static bag that was stapled closed. I was immediately dubious as to the authenticity of this memory. I had already made the decision to return this memory (see below), but this reinforced my decision. I bought this memory to supplement the built-in memory of a laptop I had purchased. The laptop arrived first and I realized that I did not like it and returned it. Therefore I did not need the memory and setup an RMA. Unfortunately RAM-Store insisted on charging me a 15% re-stocking fee for my return since it was my fault (plus I had to pay the return shipping). I don't mind paying for return shipping when it is my decision to return something, but the 15% re-stocking fee is an antiquated practice. Nothing as small as an unopened memory chip should need a re-stocking fee in a day when I can return significantly larger items to resellers for no fee at all. Lastly, it took the reseller 4-weeks from the time USPS confirmed they had received my return until they authorized the RMA via Newegg and I actually got (some of) my money back. Overall a terrible experience in this day and age of online commerce. I would suggest avoiding Ram-Store.
