Great deal
Pros: Best bang for buck for my uses...I got it in the combo with the 4GB of DDR2. Killer combo at a great price, newegg! Lightning quick. I'm not so much of a power user that I would notice the performance difference between this proc and the much higher priced Intel chips. This is a great processor if you like to dabble in games/somewhat hardware intensive applications from time to time and have no intentions to overclock in the near future. Running in about a $400 system with an HD 3850 and the 4 GB of DDR2 800. For this price point, it doesn't get any better.
Cons: People like to compare this fine chip to a Q9300?!
Thanks ECS
Pros: This motherboard, when paired with $400 of other hardware, keeps all the papers on my desk from blowing around.
Cons: The board I got was total junk. Would not POST. Took power, made all my other components light up, but that's it. For good measure, I tried other video cards/procs/everything else in the book. Sometimes you get what you pay for, this is one of those times when you actually get LESS than what you pay for. I'm an experienced PC tech, but for good measure I had even had my colleagues try there hand at it. Nada.
Overall Review: Based on my experiences and the overall reviews here, I'd say that %50 of these boards that ECS ships work the way they're supposed to. Of the other half, some are sorta flaky, some won't boot, and then there's mine that won't even POST. Spend $30 more and get a MSI/Gigabyte/ASUS---ANYTHING else. I'm sure ECS will come here and tell me to read the BigBruin review or something even more absurd. But I am done with this company. I will go out of my way and budget to avoid ECS products in the future, and you should do the same.
Bye bye, 8800GT
Pros: AMD wins this round. I'm sure you've all seen the benchmarks - the card screams. In crossfire it is the dominator of worlds. The HD 48xx will be taking the place once held by the 8800GT. Bigger performance, less cash. At $143 after rebate, this card outperforms NVIDIA's $200 9800GTX.
Cons: Crysis still eludes playability. I had to spend 5 minutes editing a CCC profile to up my fan speed to reduce temps (%35 fan speed reduced GPU temp 30C while not increasing noise). I'm sure they will take care of the fan/heat issue very soon. Unless you are too lazy to use google, this is a non-issue.
Overall Review: This is the mainstream PC gamer's price point, and ATI is the victor. I'm very happy to see this market competition again. When NVIDIA puts the GTX 280 in the HD 4870's budget, they can have my business back.
Yep, it's RAM
Pros: This is definitely RAM. Absolutely no problems so far. I don't overclock, so can't tell you much there. Great buy, especially when you get it for practically free in a combo. Heatsinks are cool looking.
Cons: Pink? Who really cares about color...32-bit OS physical address space limitation...that's not really a con of THIS product.
Overall Review: Can't really go wrong with 4GB...
Great little board
Pros: Installation was a snap. Went in quick, posted first time with my video card, no problems at all. Worth every penny.
Cons: None.
These really...blow!
Pros: These fans are red. They look kind of pinkish when not powered on, but they are definitely red, especially when powered. They move a lot of air and are surprisingly quiet. First Rosewill product I have purchased, far from the last. They make a good product.
Cons: The very cool looking boxes they come in fit really tight, and make it hard to pull out. Is that really a con?!
Overall Review: $4. You can't go wrong...
