Great price. Great performance

Rosewill RNX-56USB - Modem - Conexant Hardware-Based 56Kbps USB (Plug & Play) V.92 Data / Fax / TAM – Windows 7 Ready
Rosewill RNX-56USB - Modem - Conexant Hardware-Based 56Kbps USB (Plug & Play) V.92 Data / Fax / TAM – Windows 7 Ready

Pros: Compared to other 56K USB modems, this Rosewill RNX-56USB is cheaper and performs as well or better than the competition. Some USB modems have compatibility issues - not Rosewill. Some USB modems cost over $50 - ouch! So far, I have experienced no problems. I purchased this 56K modem for my mother. She only needs an internet connection to read her email, so dial-up works great and fits her budget. My mother is a very computer unsavvy person - she gets frustrated easily and still doesn't know what the "Windows Start button" is since it doesn't say "Start" on it. Right-clicks and left-clicks on her mouse still confuse her. To my great suprise, I was able to give her modem installation instructions on the phone 2 days before the modem arrived. The next thing I know, she was sending me emails from her computer. Installation is fast and easy. The modem works flawlessly. Even a computer illiterate person should have no problems. I highly recommend this Rosewill modem.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Three months ago, I purchased my first Rosewill item - a wireless N router. Since that time, I have made 5 more Rosewill purchases. I am very happy with my Rosewill items. Dial-up modems use decades old technology that should work flawless and cost little. However with the movement towards Hi-Speed and Wi-Fi, some manufacturers are charging a premium for dial-up modems. Staples charges $70 for their modem. US Robotics $50. Even cheap non-branded Chinese modems cost $25. I am happy to see that Rosewill has the integrity to keep their prices low and realistic. Thank you Rosewill. You have found a lifetime customer.

Pros: These light looks great, are made from real glass and use metal parts.

Cons: Tthe electronics are cheap. 2 of the 6 light did not work. There was cracked off plaster filling the box. 1 light was a smaller size and did not fit the post.

Overall Review: Returned.

Does not fit adult size bike bars or seat post

Cons: Headlight mount is too small for road bike handlebars. Tail light mount is too small for seat post. Mounts are very small and may not fit adults bike.

Overall Review: I wanted to keep these lights. For $20 they are a bargin, however they do not fit my bike.

Western Digital never fails

Western Digital WD Green WD15EADS 1.5TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital WD Green WD15EADS 1.5TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I have owned 4 WD Caviar Green drives (320 GB, 3x 1TB, 1x1.5 TB), 1 Caviar Black (1 TB), 1 WD My Book (750 GB), and 1 WD My Passport (320 GB) over the past 4 years. I have had no failures, no lost data and no bad sectors on any of the drives. I am extremely happy with the performance and longevity of WD's hard drives. Unless Western Digital takes an unexpected turn for the worst, I will only buy WD hard drives in the future. This 1.5 TB WD Caviar Green drive is running perfectly without any heat issues or performance problems. Installation was a breeze. I foresee a long and happy relationship.

Cons: No cons.

Overall Review: My only attempts at using hard drives from other companies have been a disaster. Four years ago I purchased a Seagate HDD that failed a few days after the 30 day warrenty policy ended. I lost all of my data and did not have the money to pay for an expensive data recovery. Once I found a brand that worked (WD), I stuck with it. Four years later, I am very happy. Read the online reviews. Western Digital creates the highest rated HDDs.

Fastest USB Flash Drive as of December 2009

Patriot Xporter XT Boost 8GB Flash Drive (USB 2.0 Portable) Model PEF8GUSB
Patriot Xporter XT Boost 8GB Flash Drive (USB 2.0 Portable) Model PEF8GUSB

Pros: Over 2 hours of online research - reading many flash drive speed tests - has proved to me that this Patriot Xporter XT is the fastest USB drive available as of December 2009. This USB Flash drive has the fastest write and read speeds, blowing away all of the competition in nearly every category. Of the 2 or 3 tests where this drive was outperformed, the difference was tiny and the competing drive lost by larger margins in other benchmarks. I did not see any test where the Xpatriot lost in consistent read and write tests. It was only in a few random read and write tests where the Xpatriot lost due to a slower start-up transfer speed. But after 10-20 seconds, this drive resumed the #1 spot. I purchased this drive solely for Windows ReadyBoost and am extremely pleased.

Cons: Some people find this drive unattractive, however the photograph makes this drive look more unattractive than it actually is. The Xporter is covered in a durable, dull finished rubber (not a shiny plastic look) and is less bulky than the photo makes it appear. This rubber casing provides great durablity (as verified in online USB drive durability and waterproof tests) and is easy to handle. Yes, a less robust drive would look better for a stand-alone Windows ReadyBoost drive, however the more attractive and smaller drives on the market are far too slow, expensive or loaded with bloatware. The rubber cap could benefit from a tether, however the cab fits tightly - much more secure than other plastic-capped flash drives that I have.

Overall Review: The only drives that consistently outperformed this USB flash drive were eSATA drives that required auxilary power to run, requiring a powered USB port for power and the eSATA for data transfer, hogging 2 ports. eSATA flash drives are 2-3x faster, however are plagued with problems until the technology improves. Until the price of eSATA drives drops and the reliability improves, this drive is the clear winner.
