Great looking board
Pros: It's a great looking board and it is ready for the new bulldozer processors. It overclocks well enough, I currently have my 1090t sitting at 3.7 GHz which is about as high as I want to push it, I'm just not comfortable pushing it too far beyond factory specs. It's fast enough for me anyway. Also the sata 6.0 gbps and usb 3.0 is nice. It's also sli capable.
Cons: There is no crossfire bridge, and for me that was a problem because I purchased two xfx dual fan hd 6870's, and neither of those included a crossfire bridge either. I new about this ahead of time but decided not to buy an additional crossfire bridge because I new xfx would ship me one at my request. However this is not a fault of the board, just something I thought people would like to know.
Overall Review: Corsair 600t special edition white case Gigabyte GA-990FXA UD5 motherboard AMD 1090T processor Dual XFX Dual Fan HD 6870's 8 Gigs of G. Skill 1866 sniper memory. Corsair ax850w psu corsair h100 cpu cooler samsung blu-ray drive Western digital 1TB 6 gbps HDD
Works as it should
Pros: It reads everything I've put in it from cd's to blu rays. I read a review earlier saying it didn't like newer movies too much but it played Sucker Punched without issue. It also looks very nice in my corsair 600t white case.
Cons: It wasn't free.
Good computer display
Pros: This display gives a great picture for the price and is a good step into the LED-LCD for someone without an endless budget. Input lag is virtually non-existent as long as the AV mode is set to game, this also made the text look a LOT better.
Cons: This set does not have local dimming, which is really what makes LED back-lit tv's stand out. Also the speakers on this set aren't very impressive, unless this is going to be in your bedroom, I'd get a separate stereo at least. Also the remote is definitely not as intuitive as it could be.
Overall Review: Make sure that whenever you get this tv you take the time to set it up the way that you want it. I read a review earlier about someone having nearly 1/4 second input lag when gaming. Thats what happens when you leave the tv in film mode. Also, if using this as a monitor, you will want to put the view mode in dot by dot or you will see that you're task bar and some of you're icons will get cropped. lastly make sure that all of you're drivers are up to date to ensure that you can take full advantage of this television. Lastly, make sure that you have the hardware to back this screen, no point in making something ugly big right?
Pros: Obviously it's going to be faster than a 5400 rpm hard drive, it's also pretty quiet in my system, I wouldn't say that I can hear either drive in my laptop, although I have noticed more vibration coming from where the drives are installed but i wouldn't say it's anything bothersome at all.
Cons: Mild vibration, but like I said, nothing bothersome, and pretty much expected from a drive that spins this fast.
Overall Review: Running this along side a 250GB scorpio blue in a gateway p-171s fx laptop.
excellent entry level upgrade
Pros: This card is a massive improvement over my old geforce 7500le(a cleverly named 7300gs). It plays UT3 maxed out at 31fps avg. Quake Wars runs maxed out at 33fps avg. and COH(dx9) runs maxed out at 26fps avg. D3d10 kills this game though. all of these are played at 1680 x 1050 and AA is off.
Cons: this card is definately the loudest part in my system, though you get over it rather quickly. the manual was ancient( told me to place the vga in the agp or pci slot!!!) no vista explenation even on the website.
Overall Review: This card runs just fine in my hp pavillion a1650 w/ a 300 watt power supply, though i am not extremely demanding and have no plans to overclock. Newegg was great with shipping, crossed the US in 2 days to PA. Also for some reason after i installed the vga, i had some networking issues with my wirless router.
