DIR-657 D-Link amped wireless MEDIA ROUTER

D-Link Amplifi HD Media Router 1000 (DIR-657) Wireless N300, HD Fuel QoS, USB SharePort, Gigabit
D-Link Amplifi HD Media Router 1000 (DIR-657) Wireless N300, HD Fuel QoS, USB SharePort, Gigabit

Pros: Great Throughput when You have a pure 802.11N home network. Even in mixed mode Netflix and other media and streaming as well as VOIP and Gaming packets do get prioritization. This router solved the problem of lag on VOIP calls while my wife was watching Netflix. It was able to prioritize both voice and media simultaneously. This is a great benefit because with other routers one or the other would suffer. The USB port is also good as all computer on your network can use a voip phone or a Surveillance camera, printer or a hard drive; whatever you plug into it you just have to be careful to make sure all machines have the drivers and that you share the device. GUI is very good allowing for complete control and security of the network. The fact this is amped allows for no External antennas which allows for a sleek and pleasing look to the router. Overall this is a very good home router.

Cons: Really only two cons, First, at its initial price it was in the same range as many dual band routers that had similar features. (see other thoughts) Second, the WPS button on the front is too close to the SD card slot. It is easy to accidentally activate the wps feature, and wps should be disabled in ALL Wifi routers as soon as you get them because it makes WPA and WPA2 less secure than WEP

Overall Review: This Router has dropped in Price so Much I raised my rating from 4 to 5 stars; the price to performance ratio is fantastic at the current low prices. I don't think you can get a better WiFi Single Band Router at such a low price that also has an SD card, a multi use USB port, and Gig wired Ports. The GUI and Security features are probably as good as the third party firmware some use to control their routers.

WD My Book Live 3TB personal cloud storage

WD My Book Live 3TB Personal Cloud Storage
WD My Book Live 3TB Personal Cloud Storage

Pros: Looks very nice, not a bad price for a NAS. Good capacity for price, NAS Box with its processor, power supply, and ethernet cable all seem high quality; built sturdy, good ventilation. The Debian runs well on the machine and accessing the logs are easy. Getting it to initially network is also easy.

Cons: WD software and GUI are extremely poor, I am a networking professional and I could not get this to work properly. Will an average user get it to work? I called the phone number that came on a card in the box “WD’s Concierge Service” which promised to help set it up. BUT all I got was Spanish language, all I understood was “Western Digital” and “por favor” No option to push any number for English! Not impressed with the iTunes or Twonky server idea either.

Overall Review: I wish I could have gotten a hold of an English speaking tech support; perhaps I am overlooking something simple. I can get about half of the system to function, and I was able to even do 2 Firmware updates to get it current. I can see it on my network map and ping it and also set up the shares etc. but the Software crashes when I try to open any folders. I updated to the newest Java, backed up the configs, poured over all the logs the machine generated etc. and can still not get it to work. I used the dot net included also, and tried many various other things, but all I managed to get was a nice 3TB networked Linux box I can talk to, but not put any files on. So it is basically an expensive paperweight. Including an all Spanish phone line as tech support was likely some kind of mistake perhaps based on Region. This also runs more processes and services on my machine than I would like. I was unable to get Win 7 ultimate 64 bit to Map it as a network drive. The WD software claimed it had succeeded at mapping it. The software also claimed it placed a shortcut on the desktop but never did either of these things, manually trying to use the name or IP also failed to map it as a network drive. After I uninstalled the software, some of the Services and Processes remained! I was extremely excited about using this product; unfortunately I was disappointed by poor implementation. I did get everything to work on an Emachine running win 7 x64 BUT then the Remote WD 2 Go Failed, So the Software and GUI have many Bugs still. It seems as if the remote access through the WD server and its VPN are too slow, timing out, and making too many errors. WD dropped the ball, I read all the reviews on New Egg and it looks like 50% of Users are having very similar issues even though WD comes back with a manufacturer response saying this is not a typical experience, which 50% should I count as typical? I have always been a great WD Fan and they have some good products and some of the best customer service I have seen when it comes to warranty issues and RMA’s but it looks like they need to restructure the whole software, GUI, and Remote Access part of this MYBOOK system to get it to where it is on par with what WD normally puts out; this seems like it would just be a source of embarrassment to WD at this point soiling their good name. Based on years of experience Western Digital usually does not fail like this. Perhaps they put the wrong team in charge of this project!

50% working ( I bought two)

Mini USB Bluetooth 2.0 Adapter Dongle For PC Laptop WIN XP Vista New
Mini USB Bluetooth 2.0 Adapter Dongle For PC Laptop WIN XP Vista New

Pros: one of them worked just fine!

Cons: long time to get here from asia I bought two , one of them works! the one that wont work just blinks and bluetooth is seen in control panel but it will never allow you to turn the radio on.

Overall Review: at first neither worked, then I tried on various different machines and finally figured out how to get it to work, so then I took it out and put the other one in and it didn't work, so I put the one in all the machines & it worked in those .... that is when I realized one works 100% and the other one works 0%

AWESOME PRODUCT AT AWESOME PRICE way to go PDS

PDS VECTOR CQ Desktop PC - Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz (E8400) - 4GB RAM - 80GB HDD - DVD+RW - Gigabit Ethernet - NO OS
PDS VECTOR CQ Desktop PC - Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz (E8400) - 4GB RAM - 80GB HDD - DVD+RW - Gigabit Ethernet - NO OS

Pros: They gave me a free upgrade on the HDD !!! also the one I got had a quality MotherBoard , Intel DQ45CB . Item arrived in like 3 days !! Item was packaged in a super strong cardboard box and was well wrapped in supper giant bubble wrap. I have bought heavy car parts like axles and wheel bearings that came in flimsier boxes !!! This is the mark of a quality company that cares about what they are doing.... they even had a custom splash screen in the bios, this again shows that this is a high quality vendor that pays attention to detail and cares about everything they do.

Cons: NONE AT ALL these PDS guys rock !

Overall Review: NEWEGG could take a lesson from this and only allow US vendors like this instead of these Chinese vendors that have been sending me junk lately.... I was almost through with new egg after getting a slew of garbage products from their 3rd party vendors BUT these PDS guys have saved the day. I looked them up and it seems PDS started in a garage a few years back and are now a large company that does asset recovery.. I think they operate out of the chicago area... anyway they impressed me very much with their refurbed PC. I almost want to contact them about buying a franchise and open a PDS branch here in Houston Texas......

SuperSpeed - 5 EGGS PLUS some more

HyperX Predator AIC 240GB PCI-Express 2.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SHPM2280P2H/240G (with HHHL Adapter)
HyperX Predator AIC 240GB PCI-Express 2.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SHPM2280P2H/240G (with HHHL Adapter)

Pros: almost 1400 MB/s read 740 MB/s write on AS SSD score of around 1100 ! No problem getting it to boot from a clean install of win 7 x 64 Pro. EVGA x58 132-bl-E758TR mother board from 2009. worked in either of my last two PCIx2.0x16 slots as a 2.0x4. full through put no problem.

Cons: Slight con is that cloning from my previous marvell PCIx 4 port raid card to the predator had too many issues, was able to finally make it work after two days of multiple tricks playing around with clonezilla and other software, mainly because the Raid 10 array is a Virtual Disk and I had a few data corruption problems while cloning and trying to align the partitions properly. I opted for a clean install which worked fine. Either way I was able to make it work OK at full speed and still able to boot from it. Others have reported issues getting it to boot after cloning with some motherboards and chipsets, I had issues but it was not impossible. This is only a slight con anyway because I should have just went with the clean install to start with.

Overall Review: This will breath new life into your old X58 motherboard. I am about to send mine for the westmere mod so I can switch from my i7-920 with a 50% overclock to an X5660. this should also yield a similar performance boost. I also have a raid zero array of 4x120GB sandisks that run in the next PCIx slot and I get a score of about 997 on ASSSD but that has the risk of data corruption whereas this new card should not have that issue and also support trim etc. So the PREDATOR X is awesome in my system 5 PLUS STARS

Wireless Bluetooth Optical Mouse 1000DPI for Notebook Computer

Pros: Works Well Looks like pretty good quality for a 6 dollar mouse

Cons: No Instructions 19 days to arrive in mail from china

Overall Review: Throw a piece of paper in the package letting users know how to Pair the device- I was about to RMA this because I thought it was Broke..... YOU MUST HOLD DOWN LEFT RIGHT AND SCROLL TO ENTER PAIRING MODE .. I would have given 4 stars but I had to spend 15 minutes of aggravation to guess how to enter pairing mode !
