A great case for DIgital DJ work

iStarUSA Aluminum 3U 17" Depth High-Quality Rackmount Server Chassis 300W 2 External 5.25" Drive Bays
iStarUSA Aluminum 3U 17" Depth High-Quality Rackmount Server Chassis 300W 2 External 5.25" Drive Bays

Pros: Easy to work in, very roomy. Fits full ATX (12"x10"). Included fan for hard drive cage. Shallow depth is a plus for my application (DJ racks are shallow as opposed to server racks). Case is fairly light for a rack mount. Front port USB.

Cons: Using bottom bays might be tough (would be right up against full size ATX Mobo). No front panel sound or headphones. No Firewire. Bit pricey.

Overall Review: Mine was an OEM refurb as Egg was out of retail. As such, I believe the HD activity LED is out. Not a big enough deal to send it back. Might look into replacing myself.

Great for Music Videos

BYTECC ME-825 Aluminum 2.5" IDE USB2.0 mini/VGA/AV PMP TV Out External Enclosure ( Portable Media Player ), w/ Remote Control
BYTECC ME-825 Aluminum 2.5" IDE USB2.0 mini/VGA/AV PMP TV Out External Enclosure ( Portable Media Player ), w/ Remote Control

Pros: Great price on a nifty device. Expect to see other companies pick up on the idea. Easy to use interface.

Cons: Proprietary connectors so if they get lost or damaged, who knows! Manual is often vague. USB cable did not work (double type with second connector on the PC side suppling power).

Overall Review: The USB cable didn't matter much for me as I don't really use it as a storage device. As a DJ you will love putting your Music Vids on this! Buy a second device just to have backup cables. Why could'nt they make the audio/video cable 1/8 inch?

First impressions but too soon to tell

ASUS Desktop PC ROG G20AJ-US006S Intel Core i3-4150 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 4 GB Windows 8.1 64-Bit
ASUS Desktop PC ROG G20AJ-US006S Intel Core i3-4150 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 4 GB Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Aesthetically pleasing case. Decent specs for mid-level gaming at this price point. Easy setup. Saves space on your desktop as the case is compact. Dedicated NVidia GPU & 7200 1TB disk.

Cons: Bloat ware (may be contributor to some issues) must be removed. Not easily upgradeable (only a con to builders/tweakers). No OS downgrade drivers available (at least when I looked) at the ASUS website if you do want to drop back to Win 7.

Overall Review: I bought this for my daughter-in-law to replace an old home built system that had the MB die. Basically uses some non-demanding apps and plays W.O.W. mostly. At the time there were only a few (like 5) reviews, but the specs seemed OK and 4 of the 5 reviews were very good. The bad review spoke of problems with the WiFi and I knew it would be wired to the net so not a problem. I set it up and uninstalled the McAfee anti-virus only. Not sure why they even put McAfee on there as 8.1 has built in Defender (used to be Security Essentials) which is OK as a free to use product, in my experience. Well, she used it and it was fine until about two weeks in and after installing W.o.W. It asked for a "repair/restore" and while I tried a few things wound up using the restore partition to bring the system back to it's originally shipped state. This time I uninstalled ALL trial software and unnecessary software All McAfee stuff and also disabled the WiFi adapter. I then used built in Windows imaging to create a system state restore disc set (for some reason it balked at storing an image to my NAS). It's been two weeks and it seems stable so far. When the incident above first happened I goggled reviews again and found three additional reviews with complaints of needing to do repairs/restores so I'm not alone in this. Hope that my steps have remedied the issue as I'm now past the "return to newegg" time limit and really don't want to have to start a ticket with ASUS but all I can do is wait and see.

These things do just what I need them for!

StarTech.com 2x2 High Resolution Matrix VGA Video Switch ST222MX
StarTech.com 2x2 High Resolution Matrix VGA Video Switch ST222MX

Pros: Great item for a digital DJ who needs to switch between two video sorces, so long as they are VGA, and output to two different LCD/Projectors.

Cons: They can't make me a cup of java!!

Very good DVI KVM

IOGEAR GCS942UW6 Hybrid DVI-D KVM with Cables and Audio
IOGEAR GCS942UW6 Hybrid DVI-D KVM with Cables and Audio

Pros: I won't go over the features, but all of them work for me. It also works flawlessly with the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000, and I had my reservations about it doing so.

Cons: None - can't say pricey, because if I pay top $$ just so I can get something that works flawlessly.

So for so good

Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000
Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000

Pros: I was a bit worried as I would be attaching this setup to a KVM, but lo and behold, I have not had any issues. I'm using it with a IOGEAR GCS942UW6 Hybrid DVI-D KVM I purchased right here on New Egg and it's working flawlessly.

Cons: I do want to used the little height adjusters on the "front" end of the keyboard to sort of lift the palm rest, but doing so make it teeter if I put too much weight on my palms. Leaving the adjusters off altogether makes it more stable, but putting them in the back under the f-keys makes the keyboard the most stable. One egg off for this.

Overall Review: Perhaps I'm not having the trouble that others have had with signal loss because right from the beginning I've been using a USB extention cable to keep the receiver up by my monitor. My wife and I have both been using the original wing-style MS natural keyboard and we were worried that it wasn't "ergonomic" enought, but that is not the case at least in our opinion. We think that there is enough of a curve to solve bad wrist angle. Perhaps I'll use some velcro to keep the back end of the keyboard down when using the height adjusters under the palm rest as this is really the best position for us.
