3.3V ONLY PCI

SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCA-F-O LGA 1155 Intel C204 ATX Intel Xeon E3 Server Motherboard
SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCA-F-O LGA 1155 Intel C204 ATX Intel Xeon E3 Server Motherboard

Pros: All the features you expect. Economical when paired with E3-1230 and Kingston KVR1333D3E9SK2/8G.

Cons: First 3.3V ONLY PCI slots I have ever seen (PCI 3.0 I think circa 2002). Competition appears to support 5V. Odd choice by SuperMicro - if I need 3 PCI slots on a cutting edge board I need support for antique hardware. Not in the documentation, the only clue is the slot key in the photo. If you are going to limit to 3.3V give me PCI-X for more options. Depending on your situation this could be worth more than one star. $9 and I replaced the offending card - slightly confused but not upset.

Overall Review: I have never had a problem with a SuperMicro board. Two are over 12 years old and still running 24/7 without a hickup.

Not without RAID

Hitachi GST Deskstar 5K3000 HDS5C3020ALA632 (0F12117) 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Hitachi GST Deskstar 5K3000 HDS5C3020ALA632 (0F12117) 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Newegg RMA process! Great packaging for OEM, bubble-rap + box + more bubble-rap + another box. hdparm -t = 135 MB/s. Confirmed with 4GB DD transfer sustained read > 120 MB/s. Shell Shocker saved 20$ per disk = 2T for $80

Cons: 2 of 2 DOA, lost $10 shipping them back and had to wait over a week to get replacements. Replacements passes SMART long test fine.

Overall Review: Seems like all manufactures are having DOA problems on these large drives. Find them on sale so you can afford to send the bad ones back. How long are these going to last?
