Works Great, but Comcast gave me some grief...

Cisco DPC2100 4012460 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem 100/10 Ethernet port, USB 1.1 port
Cisco DPC2100 4012460 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem 100/10 Ethernet port, USB 1.1 port

Pros: It is a simple, stable, cable modem that does what it is designed to do. I get pretty fast speeds for my internet plan tier. Its just me here, so I don't need 50-100 Mb speeds.

Cons: This unit advertises that it works with Comcast, and indeed it does. However, the first time I called to activate it, I was told that it was not on their approved list of modems and the lady refused to activate it. A visit to the Comcast service center revealed that this is a model that is currently in use in the field as Comcast-supplied equipment. So, I called back, and this time the lady on the phone activated it with no issues.

Overall Review: The issue I experienced in no way reflects badly on Cisco. This is a nice, solid piece of equipment. However, Comcast seemed to be somewhat inconsistent with whether they supported the modem. So, caveat emptor if you are a Comcast customer.

Alls well that ends well

ASUS M4A78 PRO AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M4A78 PRO AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Well laid out MB with plenty of connectors all in the right place.

Cons: 1. The MB I received DID NOT support the Phenom-II X4 processor it was BUNDLED with out of the box. The machine wouldnt boot. ASUS told me that I would need to upgrade the BIOS before the CPU would be supported, and that if I didnt have an older AM2 processor to pop into it, I would have to ship it to ASUS to get it flashed. Another reviewer on Newegg got the idea to reset the BIOS; that worked and then it would boot once, but then after a reboot you would have to reset the BIOS to get it to boot again. This was good enough to get the BIOS flashed and now the board works OK.

Overall Review: Newegg, if you are going to bundle a CPU with a MOBO, please make sure they actually do work together. If not for the helpful suggestion from another customer, this would have been an RMA.

Returned. Not eye friendly. Budget quality at premium price.

ASUS 27" Full HD 144Hz 1ms Gaming Monitor AMD Free Sync G-Sync Compatible DisplayPort HDMI DVI Asus Eye Care with Ultra Low-Blue Light & Flicker-Free Built-in Speakers LED Backlit VG278Q
ASUS 27" Full HD 144Hz 1ms Gaming Monitor AMD Free Sync G-Sync Compatible DisplayPort HDMI DVI Asus Eye Care with Ultra Low-Blue Light & Flicker-Free Built-in Speakers LED Backlit VG278Q

Pros: I look at spreadsheets all day, abd thought a monitor advertised as an eye care monitor would be great. It has the contrast and black point comparable to the 10 yo off brand LCD TV we have in our spare bedroom. Might be ok for video games or videos, but staring at spreadsheets for an hour gave me a horrible headache. Returned and exchanged for something more suitable for office work.

Cons: Poor contrast and sharpness. Black point was more of a dark grey. Text was fuzzy around the edges no matter how I tweaked the display settings. Also, pretty expensive for such a mediocre screen. Not sure who the target customer for this was.

Overall Review: Its a bargain basement display at a premium price.

Drinks ink, no two-sided printing

HP Officejet 6600 Up to 32 ppm Black Print Speed 4800 x 1200 dpi Color Print Quality RJ-11 / USB / Wi-Fi Thermal Inkjet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer
HP Officejet 6600 Up to 32 ppm Black Print Speed 4800 x 1200 dpi Color Print Quality RJ-11 / USB / Wi-Fi Thermal Inkjet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer

Pros: It has a lot of features, decent scanning quality, pretty standard stuff for this class of printer.

Cons: I put new cartridges in a couple of months ago, barely do any printing, and it is already fussing about low ink. Also, I clicked the print button literally FIVE MINUTES AGO, and it is still doing its head cleaning routine. The print quality is OK, but nothing to write home about. Also, no two-sided printing, something my old, much-cheaper model from another manufacturer had.

Overall Review: For the amount I paid for it, I would have expected something with much nicer quality. If it cost far less than it did, I wouldn't have been as disappointed.

Ultra value!

ZOTAC ZT-70706-10M G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 1GB 128-Bit DDR5 HDCP Ready Video Card
ZOTAC ZT-70706-10M G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 1GB 128-Bit DDR5 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: This is the best value you are going to get in a video card with this good of performance. On the current Passmark rating chart, it is in the top half of the high-end video card chart with a score of 3250, but has a price far less than the many other ridonculously high-end super cards. I got it on sale too, so that made it all the better. Also, this is a very energy-efficient card that, unlike many other cards in this class, does not require the extra PCIe power connector and has not significantly raised the temp in my case. This had a performance rating 38x that of my onboard GPU, so the number of 3D games I can play on my PC has just expanded exponentially.

Cons: Only been a couple of days, but I haven't come up with any yet. No shipping or packaging issues. No install issues. No disappointments with the performance so far.

Overall Review: I have two older monitors that only have VGA and DVI connectors, so I did need to order a HDMI-to-DVI cable for the second monitor. However, this will not be an issue for 95% of the people out there.

DOA

PNY RVCGGTX6501XXB GeForce GTX 650 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card Manufactured Recertified Certified Refurbished
PNY RVCGGTX6501XXB GeForce GTX 650 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card Manufactured Recertified Certified Refurbished

Pros: The specs looked good at an amazing price for a refurbished model.

Cons: I could not get my machine to POST with the card inserted. My BIOS was the newest version available, my power supply is high quality and has plenty of wattage, and I disabled the onboard video as well. Nothing. Just a blank screen.

Overall Review: I supposed there was a reason this unit was listed at such a good price. After getting an RMA and shipping this card back, I pitched in a little more money and got a new Geforce GTX 750 on sale. We shall see if I have any issues installing it when it arrives.

Had an issue, but it was resolved promptly

I ordered two of a cable (which worked well and was quite inexpensive), but only received one. I contacted this vendor, and immediately they sent the second one.
