Good, but dosen't work in some laprops

Pros: I got this at a good price while on sale. In general I am happy with this card reader. I don't pay much attention to transfer rates unless I find a device to be exceptionally slow. For my needs the transfer rates are fine, so I am satisfied with this aspect of the reader. I only gave this product four eggs because of a problem I mention in the con section.
Cons: The one complaint I have is that this card reader does not work with my primary laptop at home - an HP Envy 17 (2000 series). The laptop detects it, then disconnects and detects it again in a repeated cycle until I remove it. It does work with other laptops and PCs I have tried it on. It does this both with an SD card and a micro SD card. It worked with an Envy 14, an Envy m6 and both my PC at home and at work.
Overall Review: Overall, this card reader works well, but I would not recommend it if you plan to use it with an Envy 17, at least not one from the 2000 series.
DON'T BUT FOR AN OPTICAL DRIVE

Pros: 1) The card is cheap. 2) With the help of those who posted info about the jumper setting, it works fine in the sense it didn't prevent my computer from starting - at least not exactly. 3) My optical drive works better with the card -- once I get the computer started 4) Good customer support
Cons: I bought this card for my optical drive. I have a five year old motherboard and the SATA connections are clearly for hard drives. My optical drives does work much better plugged into the card. BUT you cannot have the bios set to boot first from the optical drive. which presents obvious problems. The computer stops and I have to hit F1 to continue. I confirmed this with someone at Rosewill. What really makes me mad is that it didn't occur to Rosewill to add a note in the specifications making this clear. In combination with the lack of info on the jumper setting mentioned by others, Rosewill looks pretty incompetent as a company. I would never risk buying another Rosewill product based on the lack of information/disclosure. How can you trust a company like that?
Overall Review: I find it really odd that a company with good customer support ( received a call back within 15 min. and everyone was pleasant) is so incompetent at adding basic information about their products.
