Decent video card, somewhat tricky drivers

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100358OCL
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100358OCL

Pros: - VERY silent. You'll doubt it's even on - Small profile. Slips in a min-tower case very snug and comfortably - Handles poorly optimized PC ports (GTA IV, Splinter Cell) very well - Cuts through properly optimized games (Max Payne 3) like butter - Highly recommended for casual gamers

Cons: - Latest drivers are a bit buggy - Didn't get my free game coupon (yet) - PCI-e power cable is a way too short. I was lucky to have a spare one bundled with my power supply.

Overall Review: Thus far I've only used this card to play older, poorly optimized games such as GTA IV and Splinter Cell: Conviction. The experience has been pleasant thus far - I'm getting decent frame rates (~50) in both GTA and Splinter Cell with High to Very High settings and max resolution (1680x1050) - and once it handles these games well, I know the better ported games will work flawlessly. As a mater of fact, Max Payne 3 runs at a smooth 60+ FPS at the highest settings. I was also impressed with the size of it. It's almost like it was made specifically for my case. It just fit right in with the rest of my components. No jimmying, no shifting, no weird angled insertions - it just snuggled right in. Just make sure you have that extra slot/port open in the back. There were a couple things that annoyed me though. The first was buggy drivers. I spent the greater part of the weekend finding the version of drivers that worked well with my older games. It turns out Catalyst 12.2 is a safe bet btw. The 13.4 drivers caused most games not to start and even prevented Flash Player from going full screen, believe it or not. Secondly, the PCI-e power cable that ships with the card was far too short. I was lucky to have a longer one lying around and I think you should too if you're thinking of buying this card. Driver and cable issues aside, this is a very decent card for anyone looking to do some casual gaming. I highly recommend it. Side Note: I didn't get the free game I was promised as part of my purchase though, but that's something the Newegg staff and I are working out atm.

It's an anti-static wrist strap. Nothing special.
