another nice laptop

ThinkPad Laptop T Series Intel Core i5-3230M 4GB Memory 500GB HDD Intel HD Graphics 4000 15.6" Windows 7 Professional 64-bit T530 (23594LU)
ThinkPad Laptop T Series Intel Core i5-3230M 4GB Memory 500GB HDD Intel HD Graphics 4000 15.6" Windows 7 Professional 64-bit T530 (23594LU)

Pros: solid build, red most button in middle of keyboard, smells nice (really, that new computer smell filled my house). port for docking bay

Cons: bloatware- I'm disappointed that Lenovo (IBM) adds so much gunk to the computer, expect to spend about an hour removing the added software (not including the time to install all updates); and I had to uninstall Norton twice.

Overall Review: came with win7 pro installed, but only disc that came with unit is for windows 8- so you have to create a backup/restore disk.

worth a shot

ATI FireMV 2250 VIDEO-MV-2250-16X 256MB DDR2 PCI Express x16 Low Profile Graphics Card
ATI FireMV 2250 VIDEO-MV-2250-16X 256MB DDR2 PCI Express x16 Low Profile Graphics Card

Pros: looks brand new, came in a nicely sealed package, exact model and specs as listed on site, windows 7 auto installed drivers. fits fine into a low profile case

Cons: computer hung at startup, after reboot was able to get into operating system, then after some usage it crashed with one screen black and the other with purple boxes all over it. Ran a benchmark program and when it started rendering images, random pixels started to appear on the screen; when it started to do 3d rendering it just seemed to break up the screen (spheres and cubes started glitch/appearing outside of the benchmark screen) followed by the computer crashing; yea, i know I'll i need to say is 'it didn't work' I don't think RMA will but worth it, but I guess I'll try

Overall Review: this was supposed to replace a video card that has an issue with its fan (its stiff and doesn't run well); guess its luck of draw, didn't cost much so, oh well. oh, and just fyi to other poster about not fitting- you much have pcie x16 slot available; I assume you tried it in a vga or pci slot or some other nonsense;

device that keeps it simple

VANTEC MRK-225S6-BK Dual Bay 2.5" SATA SSD/ HDD Remov able Rack
VANTEC MRK-225S6-BK Dual Bay 2.5" SATA SSD/ HDD Remov able Rack

Pros: a pass through connection (so it doesn't even touch the data with a chip or anything like that); activity led is based on power fluctuations so if the drive does anything with power it will show it. Ejection design is great.

Cons: why are cons a required field...

Overall Review: I've had this since dec 2013, am getting another one; it's great if your mobo can hot swap drives on the sata, no worries about conflicts or it interfering with the drive.

software is amazing

ACTi D11 1280 x 720 MAX Resolution RJ45 1MP Cube Camera with Fixed Lens
ACTi D11 1280 x 720 MAX Resolution RJ45 1MP Cube Camera with Fixed Lens

Pros: The camera itself is pretty good but what really makes this amazing is the ACTi software that works with their cameras (free up to 12 i think); It was so simple to install. The mount for the camera is really nice, if you unscrew the adjuster enough it comes right off, makes it easy to attach the camera after to mount has been attached.

Cons: cube shape is ugly imo; its hard to find the correct software on the ACTi website, I use the NVR v3.0 requires a computer to have software running to record

Overall Review: For the capability, the cost of these are amazing, I was going to go with Analog Cameras per the recording unit comes includes, but these scale so much easier.

works as indicated

Kingston 8GB ECC Registered DDR3 1333 Server Memory Model KVR1333D3D4R9S/8G
Kingston 8GB ECC Registered DDR3 1333 Server Memory Model KVR1333D3D4R9S/8G

Pros: my server board can only do 1333 with 6 sticks, so it was nice to replace 8x4gb sticks with 6x8gb sticks- more ram and faster too

Cons: here is a con, you have to say a con about a product- so yea, the ram isn't translucent, I didn't bring about world peace, its sold on a site that requires some type of con

Overall Review: if you have a server that uses this specific type of ram, I'd recommend getting an upgrade now- that's what I did; server I have is about 3 years old, current ram type seems to be phasing out, price is pretty low;

sata III but not in speed

SYBA SY-PEX40039 2 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 Card
SYBA SY-PEX40039 2 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 Card

Pros: gives 300mb/s read from ssd- that is faster than my onboard sata II has 2 sata connections is hot-swap compliant put in windows 7 64bit machine and it auto-installed without a hiccup

Cons: wish I had read more reviews, yes this is a SATA III controller card- but it is sitting on a pci-e 1x, you need a pci-e 4x to fully utilize 2 sata ports at sata III speeds. So even though the controller on the card can supposedly do sata III speeds- its connection to the motherboard bottlenecks the speed. I know this is cynical- but I think that they went cheap with the controller and to cover up that it can do true sata III- they stuck in on a 1x bus so they can just say "oh, its a limitation on the motherboard connection"- but truthfully the card it self was built with this limitation, so yea- at least its faster than sata II if you are using a single ssd on this card. Oh, and because of the bandwidth issue- having a second drive on this shares the bandwidth- which would make it pointless to get this with the idea of getting 2 sata III ssds and running them off of this card together.

Overall Review: Its frustrating that I've looked and looked and cannot find a SATA III controller that uses at least pcie 4x- there are a few that require the slot of a 4x but actually run at 2x; Took off 2 eggs because of the poor bandwidth, gave 3 because of how cheap this card was and at least it can run a single sata III drive faster than a sata II controller. Its worth a couple hundred bucks to me for a true sata III addon card, I'd rather upgrade a server and give it a couple more years of use than have to get a whole new system.
