Pros: D-Link Tech Support was SUPER!

I'm sure this will be great and will do an in-depth review just as I did the Asus N66U adapter a couple of days ago.

Cons: D-Link Tech Support confirmed the reason for my worry upon opening the package.

Other Thoughts: When I called D-Link Tech Support and raised my concerns they asked me for the serial number of the unit and put me on hold. They returned and told me the unit was manufactured on June 17, 2011. Get that year. 2011. Further, it was a re-pack. They gave me a Case # and said they would follow it and I should call back with the new unit's SSN.
This happened to me a couple of years ago with Newegg but never before and I've been a good, buying, recommending customer for a dozen years.
Well, at least they paid the return shipping but I'm anxious to get the whole system up and running. See my review of the Asus N66 Uadapter.

ASUS EA-N66 Dual-Band Wireless-N900, 3 in 1 Access Point/Repeater/Gigabit Ethernet Adapter IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n 1 x RJ-45 Ethernet port Up to 450Mbps downlink + 450Mbps uplink Wireless

Pros: Incredibly easy to set up as an adapter, which was my purpose for buying it, at least initially; Incredibly fast even on my 'old' 2.4 network but will be using it on a new D-link dual band DIR-857 'media' router-driven network soon and will write final updates on the combination; began to follow the directions to find/connect to the current D-Link wireless LAN (DIR- 655) but before I could take the first step it had already found the LAN and was prompting for the password! Compared to my 'old' D-link Xtreme-N PCI Express adapter paired with the same old router but installed on the new Acer Aspire V3-771G-9697 instead of the older Windows 7 laptop, this pairing was like a hydrofoil raceboat compared to a manual rowboat. I still can't believe it. I hope Newegg allows the mention of old or antiquated products and doesn't deep-six this review! After all, one is single band and the other dual band....
Finally, the online setup was so fast and I was 80% asleep so that I can't even remember.

Cons: Well, I needed a 10X magnifying glass to see the documentation booklet and even with that, the diagrams were so tiny and devoid of detail it took more time to find the pushbutton automatic linker than it did for the adapter to find the router by itself but even though it did, I did the pushbutton on both anyway and it of course worked fine.

Other Thoughts: I have to say that Jeremy, the Asus support person assigned to Newegg-Asus comments/questions is a man with profuse patience. I was bombarding him with questions even before the purchase and he was great. I wish every vendor were so Consumer Oriented. Support is every bit as important as product.
To summarize: super fast delivery by Newegg and great prices (I suggest you put what you want to buy into your Newegg Wishlist and wait a bit; you just might be surprised by an email tailored to you) to boot makes it an offer you can't refuse. Quality, excellent product combined with the new laptop, great prices and performance on both ... well, it only leaves the new router for me to install and write a whole 'package' (2012, Asus EA-N66,D-Link DIR-857, Acer Aspire V3-771G-9697) final review. Now I've got to do this for the laptop....

Pros: Delivered in 24 hours
New in unopened box
Excellent Asus Customer Support
the box says “2.4 OR 5” GHz up to a “max of 450”

Cons: the box says “2.4 OR 5” GHz up to a “max of 450”
nothing about 900, concurrent/simultaneous processing on both channels; I’m reading this as a not-concurrent/simultaneous processor and certainly not N900

Other Thoughts: I have been both a big Newegg buyer and Asus buyer for over 10 years and in all that time only had one problem, receiving a 2nd instead of new piece of equipment.
I have an email in to Asus right now regarding this question and will update this when I have an answer or if I'm wrong in reading a 'logical OR' and can't change the rating, I will enter a new review. Until then I'm doing a search on "network adapter wireless concurrent simultaneous dual band 900Mbps laptop"
