CM Storm Quickfire TK - Brown

CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Brown Switches and Fully Backlit
CM Storm QuickFire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Brown Switches and Fully Backlit

Pros: Cherry MX Brown switches - Perfect for those who want a bit of feedback without the added clicky-clacky of blues Excellent build quality, I was actually a bit tentative to go with a CM Storm keyboard for build quality reasons but I'm very impressed. It's rock solid, doesn't slide, feels great. Compact layout - works really well for someone like me, I have a relatively small desk surface and this takes up less space than a standard keyboard, but I still have the number pad. Love this design. Fully backlit, with options for WASD-only backlighting.

Cons: Backlighting is a bit too bright, especially when it comes to the lock indicators, but it's not a big deal. I've never had a backlit keyboard, so it's just something I'll have to get used to. For the lock indicators, it's easy enough to fix with a piece of paper...lol. Only one backlight color available. Not much of a con at this price range, but just worth noting. Not exactly low-profile, had to get a wrist rest to be comfortable but this is more personal preference and again, easy fix.

Overall Review: Of course, being mechanical, this isn't a quiet keyboard. Significantly quieter than keyboards with Cherry MX Blue switches though, as mentioned in the pro's. I've been using this for gaming, and it stands up well for both FPS and MMO gaming, no complaints. Some people prefer Reds or Blacks for gaming, but for my money Brown is the way to go. Typing is pleasurable as well, for those interested in that. All in all, this is a fantastic mechanical keyboard, especially at this price. I was worried that it wouldn't be as worth it as I had hoped, but I've been proven wrong. This is an awesome product and I couldn't recommend it more.

Pros: runs most any game as quickly as you'd expect, quad-core processor power is more than sufficient for photoshop, premiere, etc.

Cons: i've had tons of problems with graphics drivers failing, not being able to find that one driver version that doesn't make it crash. plenty of big cursor -> blue screens. more recently every now and then when i'm watching a video or playing any game, the right speaker will just totally cut out on me for anywhere between 10 seconds and 5 minutes. the left hinge for the screen is extremely loose (semi-broken i'd say) and i have never mishandled it at all, and i came across another y560 with the exact same hinge issue. on a more minor note the finish is very smooth, which looks nice til you touch it and smudge it.

Overall Review: it's like that super-fast wide receiver you drafted in the first round with all the potential in the world...but he just can't catch a pass to save his life.

Pros: Super ergonomic shape. This thing feels like it was made for my hands, and I have a tough time finding that in a mouse. I have fairly big hands, but mostly just very long fingers. I've been using a Logitech G400, and for intense gaming my grip becomes quite the claw. That mouse is just too thin to use comfortably like that...too much length on my digits. This mouse is great for my casual palm grip but its extra width and ledges for the ring and pinky finger make the claw grip much more workable as well. It also looks very sleek and sexy...I mean...if you're into that... ;) Braided cable is always a plus, weight feels maybe a little lighter than I'm used to but not so light that it'll mess anyone up. Scroll wheel has a good feel, clicks solidly and is wider than the g400's scroll wheel. Perfect amount of resistance as well. Left, right, and side button clicks are spot on, don't require too much effort but you won't be putting your silencer on accidentally -.- Tracks with plenty enough precision, can't tell that it's any different than the g400 and I never had any problems with that tracking. Rubberized coating is perfect for me. I get sweaty hands, and this texture is rubbery enough to help me keep my grip, but not so sticky that I have to pry it off my fingers.

Cons: The only real con is that the LOD is a bit high, but that can be fixed with a little application of tape. As a redneck and a member of the BSDM community,...I appreciate that.

Overall Review: Overall it's a very comfortable, intuitive, well-built product. And I got it for $30...it's an absolute STEAL at that price.

Pros: very quick, stable in almost any application...most of the time. good quality speakers...most of the time.

Cons: since i got my y560 i've had video driver problems. had plenty of blue screens due to them, i'll get random messages saying the drivers failed, etc. had to reformat recently because it just got so messed up i had to start all over again. also recently, when i'm listening to music or playing a game, the left speaker will cut out for a while randomly. the left screen hinge is also not working properly (it's really loose) and it's not from mishandling it, the construction is just poor. i've come across 2 other y560's with the same driver and hinge issues. the surface is also smudge-happy, the computer sometimes wakes itself up in the middle of the night (even when hibernate is disabled), and of course all these problems just reach a point to where i'd want to return it (the speaker was the last straw) when it's a month out of warranty. boo.

Overall Review: it's got a lot of potential, but a lot of problems.
