It Works

Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-675M 675 W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-675M 675 W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Do far so good. It works out of the box and fits my old MSI K9a Platinum MOBO and has all the power ports for my peripherals including 2 ATI 4850s. Nice modular design so I don't have to have extra wires hanging about. Oooh look . . . Velcro tie wraps to help gather things nicely and improve air flow.

Cons: It wasn't free

Overall Review: My last power supply was a Hyper and it lasted way longer than I expected. I hope this one does too. If not I'll be updating my review.

Horrible

Nero NERO 9 Reloaded
Nero NERO 9 Reloaded

Pros: Pretty red and white packaging.

Cons: Installed on Vista 32 SP1. Program takes up to 5 min to open. Seems okay after that until you insert blank media at which point Vista looses complete sight of the CD/DVD burner. Basically you insert a blank disk and Nero uninstalls your burner for you. I had to wipe Vista and re-install to get rid of it completely.

Overall Review: Use XP and Nero 6. Or use something else.

Top of the Heap. A number one

Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2025 - 2 Year / 3PCs - Download
Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2025 - 2 Year / 3PCs - Download

Pros: I like the BitDefender Anti-Virus better than their Total Security. It has everything I need and nothing I don't. It's pretty nicely set up on the install without having to adjust anything. But it's friendly enough for even a power user to customize without issue.

Cons: Not really a con, but I'd like to see more pricing options. I bought the 3D 2Y option but wouldn't mind if they offered a 3D 3Y or 5D 5Y sort of thing. Or, tell them your needs and they give you a quote sort of pricing.

Overall Review: BitDefender continually wins accolades and is consistently on the top of the antivirus ranking lists. You don't get there by creating a bad product. And for my experience, a paid for antivirus is always better than any free version.

bad wi-fi antenna

2016 Newest Acer Aspire 13.3" 2-in-1 Full HD LED-backlit IPS Multi-touch Display Laptop, Intel Core i5-5200U Processor 2.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 802.11ac, Bluetooth, Webcam, HDMI, Windows 8.1
2016 Newest Acer Aspire 13.3" 2-in-1 Full HD LED-backlit IPS Multi-touch Display Laptop, Intel Core i5-5200U Processor 2.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 802.11ac, Bluetooth, Webcam, HDMI, Windows 8.1

Pros: Good little laptop, when it works

Cons: The wi-fi antenna is junk. It drops the connection about every 5 min. I've researched every 'fix' I possibly could yet there never was a solution other than buying something else.

Overall Review: I should have RMA's the blasted thing when I could. So now I'll just reset it to factory settings and sell it on e.b.a.y.

Better than 10

Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit
Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit

Pros: The fastest Windows OS I've owned and installed. It's faster than 7 (which no more than a re-tooled Vista), and it's better than 8 because of the changes to the UI start menu. It also is not the uber gathering/tracking/spyware/big brother/no control that Windows 10 is.

Cons: None that I can tell

Overall Review: I bought this to upgrade my wife's 7 laptop before my only option becomes Windows 10 or Linux.

Great Card - Bad Rebate Process

GIGABYTE Radeon R7 370 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 ATX Graphics Card GV-R737WF2OC-2GD
GIGABYTE Radeon R7 370 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 ATX Graphics Card GV-R737WF2OC-2GD

Pros: Fast card. Works in X-Fire mode nicely. It doesn't take huge power either. It also fit nicely onto my MOBO (it's not too long like some cards can be) Lightning fast NewEgg shipping.

Cons: The rebate process is lousy. (minus one star)

Overall Review: I bought two of these at once. I printed the rebate and did all the paperwork and all that good stuff. I chose to do two separate claims and added it to one envelope. My mistake. They only approved the rebate for one of them, so instead of getting $40 ($20 per card), I'm only getting $20. Live and learn. If you want to buy two of these, buy one and wait until the order ships before buying the second one. That way there will be two invoice numbers and you'll be able to do two separate claims.
