What I Suspected... I suppose....

Acer Laptop Aspire Intel Core i7-720QM 4GB Memory 500GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 17.3" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit AS7745G-6572

Pros: Well Let me start by saying I added 4 gigs of ram before I even booted it up. Another reviewed said he did this with minimal results and I would agree. The 5400 rpm drive really seems to bog down the system. I actually am playing Heroes of Newarth off a flash drive because it seems to run better than off the HD. Needless to say with all the good components in this computer I cannot understand why they would not spend the extra 30-40 bucks and put a better stock drive in. :( But.... with that aside I love this Acer just like the last two I have owned. Excellent construction, great placement on USBs, fans, Headphone Jacks, etc. Decent webcam, AMAZING Screen for being so thin. And I did not even peek at the weight of this machine but it is substantially lighter than I would have imagined. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase but it can get rather sluggish if the drive doesn't feel like doing any real work.

Cons: The i7 processor is does not seem as fast as I had heard (although this may be due to the HD speed) The keyboard is pretty sweet (minus not being backlit... but whatever) except if you want to remove keys. For instance i HATE HATE HATE the windows key because some games do not have a built in script for disabling it. So I always pull my windows keys off my keyboard. Getting the key off was no problem. The problem is that rather than using single, small rubber pieces as the connection in between your key and the activator they use little pieces attached to a large thin piece of plastic that covers the whole keyboard length. Now this is just me nitpicking because of a personal preference but if you plan on removing any keys you don't like then make sure you have an Xacto knife close to cut it off. Multi touch pad is ehh. Good attempt I suppose.

Overall Review: The dvd drive works just fine and is great speed but my last Acer laptop had an AWESOME car-like drive where you simply slid the disk in and then it would come out. (There was no drive bay that came out the side of the computer. I would like to see more of that style but again just a preference.) The ATI 5650 is really not that beefy of a graphics card. So it runs newer games on medium settings with good FPS but as soon as you bump up HoN, SC2, etc onto high settings things can become iffy. (I thought the extra 4 gigs of RAM might help this.... no luck) I really agree with the reviewer somewhere beneath me who says to SWAP THE HARD DRIVE FOR AT LEAST 7200 RPM before upgrading anything else because that really seems to be the only hardware problem causing this computer to be slowed down.

It's good.

Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II-Carbon
Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II-Carbon

Pros: -Sound quality (a little too much bass on the default equalizer but it's good) -Ease of use -Charges fairly quickly

Cons: -Battery doesn't last as long as I wish (It lasts about 1.5 hours on a full charge at full volume) -Heavy (This is not big for most people but I carry it in my bag and it's got some serious weight to it)

Overall Review: Another person posted that it "Wish the charger connected to the speaker rather than just 'sits' in it. No big deal though"... Dude just take the plug out of the base and stick it into the side of the device itself.... cmon meow... Overall, it's worth the money I think.

Woohoo?! Free Acer Parts?!

Pros: So I have new two new things from my last review: 1. I added 4 gigs of ram when I first bought the computer and it was fast but games such as CS source, Left For Dead, etc would have a small (1-3 second) video/sound freeze every once in a while. This was a small issue that I have dealt with until yesterday where I bought an Intel M-25 SSD and installed it. WOW! boot time went from 30 ish seconds to 10ish seconds and games run like butter! I suggest this upgrade to all! 2. Since I installed a new SSD in my main bay and its only 120 gigs I needed to order the extra HDD parts for the second bay from acer. Just got off the phone with them and NO CHARGE FOR THE PARTS! Idk if it is because i am so charismatic but she said I would receive the parts in 3-8 days and never asked me for credit card or anything... I pray they do not call me back and ask for it but as of now its free muwhahahahaha

Cons: having to install a new HDD because the 5400 RPM they send with this comp is just too slow to deal with...

Overall Review: :)
