Corsair Obsidian Series 350D CC-9011029-WW Black Aluminum / Steel MicroATX Case with Window

Pros: Tons of room for a MATX, capable of fitting a 240mm radiator both on the top and the front of the chassis.

Looks killer, and has built in filters on the intakes, which is great.

Very well built, feels solid without weighing a ton.

Cons: The 5.25" bay covers are wider than 5.25", by a considerable margin. When you install a 5.25 bay device, it doesn't sit flush with the 'front' of the case, but is recessed slightly into the panel. I ended up using the bay cover to make a 'stealth' dvd-rom install.

Other Thoughts: Was disappointed in how it looked with an optical drive installed, it totally broke up the lines of the case. However, it was easy enough to separate the metal faceplate cover from it's housing and attach it to the CD-tray door with two layers of 3M double sided tape. Now it's a stealth install and it looks great!

Pros: Wow this thing is fast! Quiet, too!

Built like a tank as well, which is impressive.

I was happy to notice, once I opened it, that the colors on the shroud matched those on the Gryphon Z78 board and my H105 cooler. Spiffy!

Seriously, this thing is fast. Very close to Titan speeds at about half the price. Take that money and buy a nice SSD!

Cons: I'm a little concerned about the weight of the thing. This is a big pig! So far it doesn't seem to be an issue, supposedly there is a reinforcement plate under the heatsink. The board seems quite rigid, so hopefully there won't be any weight-related problems.

I can't think of any other cons. It's pretty awesome.

Other Thoughts: Seriously, skip the Titan, buy this. With a little further OCing, you can match the Titan in just about everything and save a ton of cash.

5 out of 5 eggs Performance AND good looks 04/05/2014

This review is from: ASUS GRYPHON Z87 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 uATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Very solid and well built board, I'm quite happy with it. The BIOS took a little getting used too, but it's pretty easy to use as well. Setup consisted of pretty much just plugging things in and turning it on. Also, the color of the heatsinks matches the color of the ring on my Corsair H105 pump, which is awesome. Port placement seems to be pretty good, and there are a lot of fan connectors.

Stability, so far, seems excellent.

There appears to be a large array of OC options, but I haven't really played with them yet.

Cons: Didn't recognize my Samsung 840 EVO at first, had to dig into the BIOS to enable it as a bootable option.

It's got 2 PWM ports for the CPU, one labled 'CPU' and one labeled 'CPU Opt'. Both are monitored separately, but their PWM speed control is unified. Only a mild annoyance, though.

Price is a little higher than it's competitors.

The TUF armor has to be purchased separately and cannot be installed with the board in the computer. That said, I didn't want it, so I'm fine with that.

Other Thoughts: Hey, it's an Asus board, you end up paying for that. That said, even though it's a bit more than other boards with similar features, I don't regret the purchase. Asus boards tend to be consistently stable, and I'll pay extra to know my system is going to run for years.
