Works with FM2+

Thermaltake V1 Max-Performance CPU Cooler with Massive 110mm Blue LED Full-Range Variable Speed Fan CL-P0401
Thermaltake V1 Max-Performance CPU Cooler with Massive 110mm Blue LED Full-Range Variable Speed Fan CL-P0401

Pros: TomsHardware had a post stating the FM2+ retainers were the same as FM2/FM1, AM3/AM2 which proved to be true. The fan is running QUIETLY at half speed and the CPU is nice and cool. Good price for an aftermarket cooler.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Not really a con, but this is a massive cooler. Make sure you have the case clearance for 143mm. Also, the AMD retainer clip is a bit like a toy. This is my first AMD build and the Intel retainer for my old Zalman fan felt more meaty. Anyway, it works.

Fair combo at a great price

CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)
CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition)

Pros: Cheap price for a keyboard that feels pretty solid. The mouse has a good feel to it as well. If you are a frequent user of the wheel, you're going to love this one. I think its the best wheel I've encountered on a mouse. Typing has a more than decent enough feel for a KB at this price.

Cons: Without backlighting, you cannot read these keys at all. Even in a room with great light, its impossible. Also, backlight is off by default, so you need to turn it on with Scrl Lck each time the machine comes up. The KB feet don't raise the board high enough for me. Probably more of a personal preference. I raised it a half inch more with a book.

Overall Review: If I had it to do over, I think I would try a different KB mouse combo for a bit more money. This is one of those items best chosen when you are standing in front of it.

AMD A10-7850K and MSI A88X-G43

AMD A10-7850K - A-Series APU Kaveri Quad-Core 3.7 GHz Socket FM2+ 95W AMD Radeon R7 Desktop Processor - AD785KXBJABOX
AMD A10-7850K - A-Series APU Kaveri Quad-Core 3.7 GHz Socket FM2+ 95W AMD Radeon R7 Desktop Processor - AD785KXBJABOX

Pros: This APU and MB ran Windows 7 Ult and 8.1 Pro quickly, without any glitches I could find. Good instructions to put everything together!

Cons: I could not get any Version of the Catalyst display drivers to install on this combination. Tried the stable version from the AMD website, as well as the Beta under Win 7 and 8.1. Each time the Catalyst installation failed when it loaded the display driver. (The screen went black and PC was unresponsive) Without the driver update, Windows uses the MS Basic Display Adapter which cannot detect my second monitor and so does not allow extended desktop. There are a few of us having this issue on Tom's Hdw. MSI tech support figures something was wrong with the built in GPU so I RMAed the APU. With only 30 days to RMA, I couldn't afford more time to play with it. I must list it on an Auction site with the MB since the processor cannot be returned for credit. Newegg may want to re-think that policy. I have since switched to I7 4770K (from some Amazing website) because of this. The Intel drivers worked flawlessly! AMD can have the greatest, most technologically advanced APU in the business but it doesn't matter if you can't get the basics to work. I did not use a discreet GPU which may have made a difference. That's my 2 cents.

Nice case!

Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Black SECC ATX Full Tower Computer Case Standard PS2 PSU Power Supply
Thermaltake Overseer RX-I VN700M1W2N Black SECC ATX Full Tower Computer Case Standard PS2 PSU Power Supply

Pros: Gotta love the room in a full tower! This is the first build where I paid attention to cable management. This case has everything you need to hide the wires and show off what you really want shown. The 2 X 200mm fans in front and on top are nearly silent and look so cool at night. The docking station is key. SATA 6GBs backups go so much faster than my old USB 2.0 external drives.

Cons: Wish the front panel connector cables were a few inches longer. I had to route across the MB. I've located and ordered a 12in extension for that from OutletPC which turned out to be pretty hard to find without building my own. No knocks for that.

Overall Review: I've ordered two extra 200mm fans (from Thermaltake for $17/ea) to add to the top and side panel of this case. The extra LED light will be nice and if should functionally keep a lid on temps once I add a discreet GPU. Again, you won't believe how quiet these fans are!
