Pros: Ability to adjust DPI on the fly while in a game. Perfect for sniping in FPS's. Thumb buttons are in perfect spot. App button is great for Vista 3d flip. Nice wight and glides easily over mouse pad.
Cons: Black surfaces are coated a matte rubber surface that tends to peal on high wear areas. Looks cheap as it begins to peal back over time. Reason for a 4 rating
Overall Review: If you are a gamer this is the best bang for the buck. I prefer over the Logitech G series due to the App button.
Fastest Computer Yet
Pros: -Dual HD bays -up to 16 GB ram allowed - 3GB 192 bit video card - quad core processor -backlit keyboard -Bluray drive -calculator shortcut key for business work -Full HD screen for spreadsheets -BUT above all it runs amazingly cool no matter what the ambient temps and no matter what I am doing on it.
Cons: -Had a conflicts with the drivers/utilites on the Asus website and some software I use. However, after some work on the Asus forums that has been sorted out with more a recent Asus keyboard utility and a decision not to install one of my programs on this laptop. -My WD Passport 1TB 3.0 hardrive will not stay recognized. It drops out and re-attaches every several minutes when plugged into the USB 3.0 usb slot. Therefore it can't be used as whatever I'm doing is interrupted and lost. This is a common problem with the G74sx and this HD. So either I have to wait for new drivers to fix it, buy another 3.0 drive, or just do without. Currently I am doing the latter as 2.0 is bearable for backups and I have 2 HD's in my laptop now.
Overall Review: After receiving this, I dropped a Intel 320 160GB SSD into the open slot. It was super easy and I just rebooted and selected the SSD as my boot drive and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on it using the OEM code from the bottom of the laptop. Bootup time is at 23 seconds from the Bios screen!!! That made installing drivers and restarting each time the quickest install I have ever done. The 750 GB (7200 rpm) is perfect for storage. I also bought a 8GB 1066 Gskill memory kit and dropped it in last week. I have zero worries about running out of free space in ram and Windows 7 willingly fills a large percentage of the 16GBs with cached data. Above all- it runs so cool. Average work like right now the temps are 41/35/39 (Processor/HD/video card). Heavy gaming (BF3 at high specs) brings it up to 69/38/65. That is in a room that is about 85 degrees F. I will use it often overseas where there is no AC and the temps are 100+ F with high humidity. This will be perfect!
Pros: Awesome clarity for Skype calls. I will put off buying a dedicated Skype phone for a while now.
Cons: None that I can find.
