Unfair ASUS Online and Phone Support

ASUS VivoTab RT TF600T - NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad Core, 2GB DDR3 32GB Flash Storage 10.1" Windows 8 RT Tablet - Gray (TF600TL-B1-GR)
ASUS VivoTab RT TF600T - NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad Core, 2GB DDR3 32GB Flash Storage 10.1" Windows 8 RT Tablet - Gray (TF600TL-B1-GR)

Pros: Beautiful, responsive touchscreen. Microsoft Office 2013 Preview preloaded with a free upgrade to the full retail version! Whoa!

Cons: I came here hoping to find other owners discuss how they overcame the trouble I'm having but so far it's been disappointing. I obtained my tablet about two years ago and put it aside because after a failed online Windows 8.1 upgrade, no one at ASUS nor Microsoft knew how to help. I just got frustrated and went back to using my desktop PC. However now, almost two years later, I've returned to see if the kinks have been worked out and still no one at ASUS nor Microsoft is helpful and the machine continues on a never-ending boot loop. I managed to reset the tablet back to factory defaults and now the Windows RT Build 9200 my ASUS TFT600T originally came with won't activate because the preloaded OS has somehow lost its product ID. ASUS says I have to pay $79 and send the unit back to them for repairs. Microsoft won't touch it because the product ID is absent (understandably, they're preventing piracy.) But I'm essentially stuck with a piece of amazing hardware technology I can't enjoy because the preloaded OS now won't activate nor properly install Windows Updates. Unless I pay a ransom of $79. Not a great experience.

Overall Review: Windows RT is great for general productivity and this machine has integrated well with my work habits. It is virtually equivalent to Windows 8 with the only caveat that I won't install many desktop programs available for the mainstream Windows platform because they were programmed for an Intel-compatible architecture. However this is mostly negligible since the dual personality Windows 8 and RT have allow my RT tablet to still enjoy Windows App software from the Windows Store that both Intel and ARM-based devices such as mine still do share. Some of the contemporary video games I can play on my desktop PC, for example "Cut The Rope", are gorgeous and much more exciting on my touchscreen tablet. I've even managed to get the tablet to perform some more technical tasks such as become an Internet Connection Sharing gateway by obtaining a separate USB network jack and a third-party device driver that helped me give this tablet the required second network connection.
