Easy set up, excellent range
Pros: The software (both in the firmware and available for download from Netgear) is very good and organized. Setting up the router was quite simple as was adjusting various parameters for the home network. The two radios (2.4 and 5 GHz) are excellent. The unit is in my garage wiring cabinet and the signal transmits across all four floors. HD video streaming via wired and wireless is smooth.
Cons: The clear plastic stand is nice but if I had the option to remove it I would have done so.
Overall Review: I paired this Netgear router/switch with a separate Netgear gigabit switch to enable my entire wired/wireless network.
Fool me twice
Pros: Clean design and easy to plug in several power bricks
Cons: The unit will not turn on.
Overall Review: This unit arrived yesterday and this evening I followed the instructions, connecting the battery first as instructed. After connecting the red wire to the positive terminal and closing the battery compartment, I plugged in the unit to line power. Hitting the power button on the unit produced no response. No green light, no beep. The surge only outlets had power but not the UPS outlets. I'm leaving it on line power to see if that makes any difference but there seems to be a central fault. I have had terrible trouble with other APC units at the office (rack mounted and standalone) and was hesitant to purchase this one. I should have listened to my past experience.
Excellent Product
Pros: Worked as advertised in providing full digital and HD cable content to my PC.
Cons: Obtaining cablecard from Comcast and activating it via Comcast. Portions of the setup which had nothing to do with the unit were troublesome. Windows Media Center requires a Microsoft Product called PlayReady. PlayReady would not "update". Fortunately there were instructions on SiliconDust's website and Option 2 solved the problem.
Overall Review: Currently running on a 100BaseT network but upgrading to 1000BaseT on weekend. The computer accessing the device is connect via wired ethernet.
