Corsair Force LE 2.5" 960GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F960GBLEB
Corsair Force LE 2.5" 960GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F960GBLEB

Pros: starting windows 7 pro takes about 20 seconds. my last set up was 2 hdd in raid 0 which took about a minute or so to load. so i'm really happy with the speed. running programs are also much faster. i don't know how it compares to other ssd s.

Cons: it's a lot more expensive and i see the price has increased since my purchase. in the future will m.2 prices be competitive.

Overall Review: if you want a deal, prices of components were good on black friday. i would buy a 1 tb ssd again but i would definitely look for a sale price. i don't know if all ssds are created equal or if some are faster. i bought corsair because of their name and they generally produce above average products. their flash drives, pc cases, psu have generally had good ratings so i hope that therir ssds will have the same quality.

Most Critical Review

short life

Brother TN570 High Yield Toner Cartridge - Black
Brother TN570 High Yield Toner Cartridge - Black

Pros: the printer and original toner cartridge was great. the original toner lasted print after print for over 3 years of normal printing.

Cons: i purchased this cartridge thinking this should outlast the original smaller cartridge. but this did not last long at all. we use it as a home printer so i expected it to last more than a year.

Overall Review: double the price of the cartridge and get a new printer, toner, and copier. i like my brother copier better than the hp and lexmark printers that i've had in the past. i also prefer laser printers over ink jet. i was interested in the samsung color laser printer but it had some critical bad points.

looks great but audio is poor

ASUS VZ279H Frameless 27" 5ms (GTG) IPS Widescreen LCD/LED Monitors, HDMI 1920 x 1080 Ultra-Slim Design, w/ Eye Care Feature and Flicker Free Technology, 178/178 Viewing Angle and Built-in Speakers
ASUS VZ279H Frameless 27" 5ms (GTG) IPS Widescreen LCD/LED Monitors, HDMI 1920 x 1080 Ultra-Slim Design, w/ Eye Care Feature and Flicker Free Technology, 178/178 Viewing Angle and Built-in Speakers

Pros: reduces blue light so colors slightly ivory which means its working. recent studies say blue light is not good for our eyes. the picture is great but picture fades when off angle. i would not say it has a 178 degree viewing angle.

Cons: compared to my 10 year old viewsonic, the asus sounds horrible. so plan on having your own sound system.

Overall Review: for the price, this is a great screen. i hooked up some inexpensive speakers and i'm happy with the combination. i'm using it for work and games and it seems to be working well. i have not compared it to other monitors for gaming. i suspect that if you compare this screen to a much better screen, you will probably see a significant difference. but a better screen would probably cost twice the price. i think buyers looking for value will be happy like me.

does well so far.

MSI Z270 SLI LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard
MSI Z270 SLI LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: easy to install. looks great with all black.

Cons: if you use head phones, the connection to the front panel has a lot of noise. i don't know to blame the mobo or the case (phanteks p400). i connected my headphones to the speaker jack and the sound is fine.

Overall Review: in the past i've always used evga products. but i think i like the msi brand. they offer quality products at a reasonable price so the value is there. i'm trying to find the best value for my money and i think this board works for me. if i had to do it again i'd probably spend a little more and buy a z170 board.

cool temps

CORSAIR Hydro Series H110 Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 280mm (CW-9060014-WW)
CORSAIR Hydro Series H110 Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 280mm (CW-9060014-WW)

Pros: just installed a corsair h110 on a skylake i5 6500. so far i'm getting temps of 28 to 31 C. room temp is about 74 F. my last setup was a corsair h60 on an intel 1156. the h60 had temps upto 41C but i dont know if my 7870 gpu was causing the extra heat. in any case my pc started shutting down at those temps. so far the h110 is cooling the cpu much better and seems fairly quiet, however i use open headphones most of the time.

Cons: even on sale, the corsair h100 was still a 100 bucks. installing the radiator and fans was a pain.

Overall Review: i don't know the reliability of the corsair h110 but if it last many years, i would definitely buy it again.

cable quality is bad

CORSAIR CX-M Series CX550M 550W 80 PLUS BRONZE Haswell Ready ATX12V & EPS12V Semi-Modular Power Supply, CP-9020102-NA
CORSAIR CX-M Series CX550M 550W 80 PLUS BRONZE Haswell Ready ATX12V & EPS12V Semi-Modular Power Supply, CP-9020102-NA

Pros: it's cheap and has corsair name/ warranted for 5 years.

Cons: the cables are cheap. i bought a higher end corsair psu and the modular cables were much nicer and better selection of cables. i got what i paid for. the 24 pin cable was too short for cable management. it pulled on the 24 pin power connector so hard that the power was cut off to the motherboard. the 8 pin power supply just reaches the mother board 8 pin in the upper left corner.

Overall Review: would i buy this psu again? no.
