Buy these drives!!

CORSAIR 4GB Flash Survivor Ultra Rugged USB 2.0 Drive Model CMFUSBSRVR-4GB
CORSAIR 4GB Flash Survivor Ultra Rugged USB 2.0 Drive Model CMFUSBSRVR-4GB

Pros: Very rugged; You could probably run it over with a tank, and still be able to use it!! Transfer rate is on par w/similar products from other manufacturers.

Cons: The lanyard (actually a thin chain), although "spiffy" looking (what with the cute, shiny dog tag and all) didn't stand up to the rigors of my use (it broke after 6 days). I'm in IT, so I carry mine around my neck all day @ work. My fiance doesn't have the same problem with hers, because she keeps hers in her purse. Rumor has it that I might be able to get a different, more traditional (read rugged) lanyard from Corsair, so I'm gonna' email them ...

Overall Review: I bought three of these drives all at the same time; a 4 GB one for our friend's son (as a small HS graduation gift), an 8GB one for my fiance, and a 16GB one for myself. Combined with speedy and free NewEgg shipping, and rebates from Corsair, made purchasing these drives a no lose situation... I WOULD DEFINITELY BUY THESE DRIVES AGAIN!!

Great keyboard ruined by really cheap keys!

Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000
Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

Pros: 5 Stars for Newegg because they ROCK (as always)!! Split-design, ergonomic keyboard with a bunch of extra features and custom keys. Helped ease the pain in my wrists due to years of IT work. Keys were quiet, yet not "mushy" when pressed.

Cons: Cheap, cheap, cheap printing on keys. Key lettering starts to rub off in a month or so. MS has already replaced three for me, due to "fading key" issue. After the third one they said they won't replace it anymore, even though keyboard purportedly has 3 year warranty.

Overall Review: I ordered this MS 4000 keyboard because it got great initial reviews, and because I was looking for a way to reduce wrist strain after spending long hours at the computer (17 years of IT work). The keyboard worked great; the ergonomic design really helped to ease the pain in my thankful wrists, and the keys were very quiet, but yet felt firm when pushed. I personally had none of the "hard-to-press key issues" that others have complained about, but the letters/numbers, on the keyboard's keys, started fading after a month +/- . I contacted MS, to see if they sold replacement keys, and although they did not, they did offer to replace the keyboard free of charge. Flash forward another month +/- , and the same problem started occurring with the 2nd, replacement, keyboard. I contacted MS AGAIN, and was told that they would replace the keyboard a third time, but was basically told that this would be the final replacement (so much for a 3 yr warranty). Of course the 3rd keyboard had EXACTLY the same issues, and now after 1 1/2 years, roughly a quarter of the keys have no letters/numbers on them. It should be noted that the inks now being used on keyboard keys are apparently water based inks, and although more environmentally friendly, they appear to be less durable, exhibiting the tendency to wear prematurely due to the water and oils in our fingers. All keyboard manufacturers, to some degree, purportedly have this very same issue when key letters are simply printed on the keys with these "earth friendly" inks. The alternative, at the manufacturing level, is to have the letters/numbers engraved or moulded into the keys, THEN use the water based paint (if they must) to paint the recessed letter/number. At least that way, our "watery and oily" fingers wouldn't come into such direct contact with the paint. Personally I'd be willing to pay a little extra money for keyboards made with keys such as those. In any case, I will NOT be buying any more of these keyboards, and instead will actively search for keyboards that DO have the letters/numbers engraved/moulded directly into the plastic, rather than just printed on the keys' surfaces. If any of you already own this keyboard, and are also experiencing the fading issue, then try painting the keys with several coats of clear nail polish. Works pretty good!!
