psyko PC51V1 Circumaural 5.1 PC Gaming Headset System
psyko PC51V1 Circumaural 5.1 PC Gaming Headset System

Pros: Excellent 3D positioning. The headphones definitely deliver on this promise.

Cons: Horrible sound quality. Totally sounds like you're listening to sound being funneled through a plastic tube into a big plastic chamber. Cheap feeling & looking construction. Sounds are occasionally crackily sounding. Absolutely unacceptable for any headset that costs over $30. Given the option to use this with my xfi titanium fatal1ty pro soundcard or a cheap USB headset that you can pick up off the shelf at your local electronics store, I'd honestly go with the latter. Extermely uncomfortable -- these things are heavy and poorly padded. You will get sore spots on the top of your head if you wear these things for any extensive period of time (like... more than an hour.) They'll make your head feel very top-heavy. I'd be inclined to guess that no other headphone manufactures have used this design moreso because of how poor the user experience is than because of any innovation involved in their "true 5.1" technology, rather than because the notion had slipped by them. Not worth the $.

Overall Review: I used 'em for a little over a day, and was absolutely disgusted that I'd paid such a gross amount of money for such a bad product. I'm surprised that others have given such good reviews. The only thing that they have going for them is that the *do* provide excellent 3d positioning. When gaming, it's very easy to tell where things are coming from. However, I've experienced similarly accurate positioning from other cheaper headsets without sacrificing the sound quality. Don't get sucked in by the gimmicky patented technology -- there are much better headphones out there!
