Power Consumption
Pros: Wall mountable, *power efficient(0W will kill-a-watt, so it's less than the amount it registers(<2W). $6.99 each; free shipping. I went to buy more, but price went back up :( ; I don't think pricing should be left out of reviews! It helps others know what prices to watch for and not get hosed.
Cons: High REPORTED failure rate, short warranty(adding evidence to that).
Overall Review: I've read lots of reviews with high failure rates, and I've not owned long enough to say, so 4 out of 5 Stars for now. The same manufacturer of the AC adapter seems to supply netgear with their adapters. Nice similar metal case also, hmm I wonder if these are manufactured like laptops are these days where some 'unknown' company manufactures devices for many different brands.. IE: netgear, trendnet ultimately come out of same factory/assembly line.
Bad after 125 hours and 24 starts
Pros: Nice case... Encryption if you want it.
Cons: Fails Encryption if you don't want it(Can't be truly disabled, ie: remove drive from enclosure and put into another computer, data won't be readable(so they say) tho removing drive voids warranty anyway.
Overall Review: I filled this sucker twice, 2.7TB or so, and ran Crystaldisk info each time, no errors. I go to copy data off onto another 'backup 3tB external USB drive and crc error and bad sector(s)... All the lousy drives made today, they count on it to increase future sales I think...Timing is bad, gotta wait 6 months to send in for warranty replacement. I would say don't buy!!!! but I can't since I can't recommend anyone else... Blu-ray maybe? :(
