Excellent Switch

NETGEAR ProSAFE 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch (GS116NA)
NETGEAR ProSAFE 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch (GS116NA)

Pros: Inexpensive, metal case rather than plastic, 16 gigabit ports, jumbo frames, auto uplink, etc. This switch just works. I've had it in place at home for more than 2 years with no problems whatsoever. I would not buy this for work, as it is not enterprise quality, but rather consumer quality.

Cons: Not for enterprise. Can't think of much bad that can be said about it. It just works.

Overall Review: For reviewers that have had problems, I would say that they probably were unlucky enough to receive faulty hardware, which just happens sometimes, and there really isn't much that can be done about that, other than to replace it. @pjmarkert you really should have used enterprise level equipment for a simulator install for the Navy. A couple of managed switches from Cisco, HP, or even Dell would have served you much better and would have been more proper switches to use for such an application. Granted, the price difference is tremendous, but so is the difference in quality. Never buy consumer level equipment expecting enterprise level quality. Things just don't work that way, especially in IT. You really and truly do get what you pay for in the vast majority of cases where hardware is an important factor.

HGST Ultrastar 7K4000 (0F17719) 4TB 64MB Cache 7200RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Desktop Hard Drive - 3 Years Warranty

Pros: Enterprise drives.

Cons: "Refurbished" - although it's hard to know just what they are doing in order to refurbish them.

Overall Review: I imagine it's possible I just got a couple lemons, but these are refurbished... and I think in this case that just means used. I ordered 5 of these for a 4-bay NAS to have a readily available spare in case of a failure... standard practice. One of the 4 that I put in my NAS when I first set it up was DOA. So I swapped it with the one that would have been the spare, and finished setting up the NAS. I emailed support and explained the situation, and they had no problems sending a replacement. I just had to verify the order and the drive info, and send the failed drive back to them. The replacement arrived in good time. I've only had the NAS a few months, and have already had a drive fail. It was not in the same slot as the first drive, so that rules out a bad NAS drive bay. Fortunately, the spare I had been sent as a replacement is working fine, but now I have to buy yet another spare. I hope this isn't going to be a recurring theme with these drives, but for now I'm not thrilled. It's not a 1-egg situation, particularly since their support was very responsive, and had no problems taking care of the DOA issue. I will likely reach out to them regarding the second failed drive to see if they might help. Between this and having 4 drives out of 6 work well, I'm giving this 3/5 eggs.

Poor quality...

Enermax LIQMAX III 120 ARGB, All-in-one CPU Liquid Cooler for AM4 & AM5 / LGA 1700/1200/1151, 120mm Radiator, Dual-Chamber Water Block, ARGB Fan - AM5 & LGA1700 Ready

Pros: Inexpensive. RGB

Cons: Cheap! Poor quality.

Overall Review: This CPU cooler failed within a month of buying it. I had never heard of Enermax, but had high hopes because the better known brands had become more expensive than the last time I had bought one. The last one I had bought lasted about 10 years and still worked when I finally replaced my PC. It was a Corsair brand, which is what I replaced this one with when it failed so quickly. Bottom line... stick with a better known brand, and pay for quality. Don't waste your money on this junk.

Great Product! (STILL)

CineRAID CR-H458 Hardware RAID 0, 1, 10, 3 and RAID 5, Support 4 x 3.5" Hot Swappable Drive Bays USB 3.0 eSATA RAID SubSystem
CineRAID CR-H458 Hardware RAID 0, 1, 10, 3 and RAID 5, Support 4 x 3.5" Hot Swappable Drive Bays USB 3.0 eSATA RAID SubSystem

Pros: Affordable (low price) Hardware RAID, not software RAID! eSATA or USB 3.0 Supports SATA III (6Gbps) Supports 3TB and some 4TB drives Easy setup Good tech support EDIT: The only part of this I can no longer verify is the tech support, but only because I've not had to call since my original issue with the power cable (see Cons below). When I purchased this unit in 2013, Cineraid claimed it would support 3TB and some 4TB drives. Their site now claims it will support up to 12TB drives. I find that statement questionable, but there are some reviewers here who claim to have done that with no problems, which means they must have upgraded their hardware. I will say this... I've had mine running 24/7 since I bought it ni 2013 with the only exceptions being occasional power outages, and one residential move. It's never had any problems whatsoever with the 4 3TB WD Red drives I put in it. I had bought 5 of the drives assuming one would fail at some point, and even the drives have never failed, so I have 1 extra drive that I've never even opened. I still would highly recommend this product. The first bullet in my list is even more true today than when I bought it 5 years ago! It's now extremely affordable. To the people who bought this and immediately gave it a bad review, I'd ask if they've reached out to Cineraid tech support, and if so what was your experience? I'm wondering if it's still as good as my experience with their tech support was. I'd also suggest that maybe they just happened to get a lemon. It can happen with anything.

Cons: Power cable can be shoddy Honestly can't think of anything more that I would consider negative about this unit. Previous reviewers have talked about problems setting up the unit, and my response to them is that they probably just happened to get a lemon. It happens. RMA it and get another, because this unit is fantastic at its pricepoint.

Overall Review: I would like to see more options from this company. They're making quality hardware at a very affordable price. For example, I'd love to see a 5-bay unit that can be set up with RAID 5 for all drives, RAID 5 with a hot spare, or RAID 6 as some setup options. A unit that supports newer, higher capacity drives (>4TB for example), and a large (say 16TB) maximum volume size would also be fantastic. The unit I ordered worked fantastic out of the box. I did need to order a PCIe USB 3.0 card, as my older server didn't have USB 3.0 or eSATA, and it was not a problem at all. After less than 3 months of operation, the power cord crapped out, but a call to the CineRAID tech support (a human answered!) and a very quick RMA process had a new power cord on the way and to me within a couple days. This unit is up 24/7 with 4 WD Red 3TB drives, and other than the power cord, I've had no problems. It just works. I have a huge media collection there (pics, music, movies) as well as all my installer files, computer backups, etc. and still have room to spare. I highly recommend this product, and more than likely will buy a second one at some point, unless CineRAID introduces a new product such as I mentioned.

Does exactly what I needed it to do.

ORICO USB3.0 to SATA3.0 Dual Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 & 3.5 In. HDD, SSD with Hard Drive Duplicator/Clone Function [Support 2 x 6TB HDD Not including HDD] - Black 6629S3
ORICO USB3.0 to SATA3.0 Dual Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 & 3.5 In. HDD, SSD with Hard Drive Duplicator/Clone Function [Support 2 x 6TB HDD Not including HDD] - Black 6629S3

Pros: -USB 3 -SATA 3 up to 6TB per bay -2.5" or 3.5" compatibility

Cons: None for me.

Overall Review: I wasn't really in need of the drive duplication capability, so that's really just an added bonus for me. As an easy way to load a drive up in my OS, it's perfect. In fact, I can load two drives which is even better. Great way to test a drive, swap drives out to use as backup devices, or to save an image in case your primary drive fails, etc. This device was exactly what I was looking for, which was actually an easy way to wipe drives with DBAN. Great product.

SAMSUNG 850 EVO mSATA 500GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal SSD Single Unit Version MZ-M5E500BW
SAMSUNG 850 EVO mSATA 500GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal SSD Single Unit Version MZ-M5E500BW

Pros: Blazing fast. I can't say enough how much this has improved the performance of my laptop. Really there are no negatives about this drive. The price point is really good, particularly with the performance benefits you get for that price!

Cons: The only negative I could come up with is that the drive didn't ship with a mounting screw. Since this screw for my laptop is exceptionally small, it took a bit of digging to find a proper screw. Since this doesn't affect the drive itself, I didn't mark it down at all.

Overall Review: If you're looking for a reasonably priced mSATA SSD, you can't beat this. The difference you'll notice in performance of just about any laptop is well worth the price of this SSD.

Very good experience

I made a purchase of an older HP DL380 server to function as a home virtualization lab. The item arrived exactly as described in the Newegg listing; 64GB RAM, 8 10k 146GB SAS drives, DL380 G7, etc. It fired up immediatly, and was already configured with RAID 5, but none of the drives was marked as a hot spare, so I changed the configuration to RAID 5 with a hot spare, and proceeded to install the last VMware recommended version of ESXi for that model server. Great so far. ESXi installed flawlessly, but before I could do anything more with the machine a drive showed as failed. I went through all the normal steps such as removing/reseating the drive, rebooting/removing/reseating, etc. No joy, the drive was failed for sure, but the server is otherwise running just fine. To be honest this was my biggest fear with buying a refurbished server like this with used drives. But, I logged back into Newegg and sent an email to the inStock901.com support via the form on Newegg, and promptly got a response asking for all the hard drive information. Information sent, and another quick response saying a replacement drive was on the way. I'm just waiting on the new drive to arrive at this point, but it's been a pleasant experience dealing with this reseller. I definitely recommend them, as I've had a positive experience with this purchase. This is definitely how support should be handled.
