Quiet, Poor Cable Management

NZXT H2 H2-001-BK Black Steel / Plastic Classic Silent ATX Mid Tower Chassis
NZXT H2 H2-001-BK Black Steel / Plastic Classic Silent ATX Mid Tower Chassis

Pros: This case with included fans is very quiet. The three-speed fan controller is placed front and center. There is a lot of space inside for plenty of 5.25" and 3.5" drives as well as 2.5" drives. The hinged door is nice to keep a sleek look at the front. The build quality is great. There is a HDD dock on top where you can slide in a standard 3.5" or 2.5" drive which is great if you can enable hot-swapping on your motherboard. There is a nice cover for it as well as a cover for a grill where you can mount an additional 140mm fan. There are filters on all intake fans which is great for keeping dust out of the system. I clean them about once a month. The black paint is very nice and stays clean. It is nice having the single USB 3.0 port and three USB 2.0 ports on the top. There is plenty of room to stuff cables behind the motherboard tray.

Cons: The front door is kind of annoying when i have to use the optical drive, and doesn't mask the sound of the drive. The reset button is the same size as the power button and it is quite easy to press accidentally when adjusting the fan speed or using the top-mounted USB ports. Inside the case, the rubber inserts next to the motherboard fall out very easily when routing cables through them. I wish the hard drive mounts were rotated 90 degrees to make installation much better.

Overall Review: I built my system about a year ago using this case with an ASUS p8z68v-le board, Core i5 2500k, EVGA GTX 560ti. Later when I installed a Cooler Master Hyper 212 plus the cutout behind the CPU socket was nice because I did not have to remove the motherboard to install the backplate. The case is nice, however I am picky enough to not recommend this case because of the hard drive mounting. It is very quiet, even with the fans on full and running games with the CPU and Video card releasing a lot of heat.

Most Critical Review

Expensive, unable to get it to run at EXPO speed

Team Group Vulcan alpha 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory
Team Group Vulcan alpha 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory

Cons: Unable to get this memory kit to run at advertised speeds or CAS latency. No amount of tweaking was able to get pc to POST at anything other than 5200 speed.

Overall Review: I do not think I would recommend this kit for anyone building a Ryzen DDR5 system. It might work fine for an intel system.

Motherboard failed after 2 months of use

GIGABYTE B650I AORUS ULTRA AM5 AMD B650 SATA 6Gb/s Mini ITX Motherboard
GIGABYTE B650I AORUS ULTRA AM5 AMD B650 SATA 6Gb/s Mini ITX Motherboard

Pros: The board has plenty of features and ports

Cons: Board has unnecessarily complicated building quirks, like having the front panel audio connector UNDER the heatsink for the SSD. The BIOS is hard to use and set up, and very hard to update. The fan speed control in the bios did not want to save settings, and there does not seem to be a way to save and load and settings from the BIOS. After 2 months of use, the MB failed to boot, and I am currently waiting for an RMA. Gigabyte service is underwhelming and does not inspire confidence.

Overall Review: I would not recommend this particular board and I will likely not buy a Gigabyte board in the future.

Great Laptop HD

Western Digital Scorpio Black WD5000BEKT 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Scorpio Black WD5000BEKT 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Improved performance, quiet, efficient, reliable, great value, best warranty (five years), easy to install.

Cons: Having to re-install Vista (ugh). But that's not the hard drive's fault.

Overall Review: Bought this after reading Tech Report's 7200 rpm notebook HD comparison. Installed into Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with Vista Basic. All-around performance is much faster than with old 80 GB HD. Formatted capacity is about 465 GB.
