Probably overkill, but cheap compared to Intel
Pros: Speed: Seems to have a snappy response, though I don't do a lot of processor intensive tasks (mostly gaming, where just about any quad core will do the trick), bought an 8 core due to the small price difference, and to try future proofing my rig a bit (I don't really want to buy "more" computer for a while, and certainly don't want the hassle of plugging in a new processor) Price: Pretty sure you can't do better than AMD at price in any given bracket of performance. I paid about 125 for a quad core 925 almost 3 years ago, so 200 for an 8 core that has a 4.2 clock vs 2.8 is definitely nice.
Cons: Nothing so far, I didn't use the stock cooling in the box, so I wouldn't know if it "runs hot".
Don't know what to think so far.
Pros: Seems to be fast when they work.
Cons: Were the most likely root of my build not being stable at first: I had set them to 1866 in the bios of my motherboard that supports 1866 without overclocking (ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX) . Not ruling out that it could be a motherboard issue, and initially thought "power supply maybe", but I have a 750 watt corsair power supply, and the PSU calculators I've checked all seem to say I only needed ~500 for my rig (8 core amd, 4 sticks of this ram, radeon 7950, one 140mm fan (not in use at the moment), and five 120mm fans, along with two SSDs and a 500 gig HDD. I'm pretty sure it isn't a lack of power (which is an issue I've had before with ram). Dropping the ram down to 1600 seemed to solve my problems, whatever they were, but seems to negate the point of buying 1866 ram. Maybe I just got a bad batch of ram
Exceptionally low quality product.
Pros: Looks nice, the light effects are pretty cool.
Cons: Exceptionally poor quality product, destroyed any lingering doubts I had that Corsair has transitioned from quality, to milking it's old reputation for profits. Keyboard shipped to me with issues on a few keys (the 9 on numpad would repeat instantly, making it's use for anything important, impossible). Key caps were low quality trash, didn't even make it 6 months before I had to purchase replacement key caps, some chinese brand I'd never heard of before, provided better key caps. The key repeat thing has spread over time to other keys. Most infuriatingly, my spacebar now double spaces constantly.
Overall Review: I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone, and by extension, I warn people off from buying corsair products in their entirety.
Happy with Purchase
Pros: Just about the right size for a drive dedicated to running an OS on Ran more or less out of the box, didn't have to jump through many hoops to get this up and going. Respectably fast.
Cons: Was a little wary about buying from this company, wasn't familiar with them, or their products. The "speed" of this drive does not seem nearly as dramatic as the corsair drive I bought, and the corsair drive has a better gigabyte to price ratio (2 dollars for 2.5 gigs, where this you are paying more than a dollar per gigabyte)
Overall Review: If you are using this for Windows 7, be sure to turn page file off, or move it to another drive. I had failed to do this, and Windows managed to gobble up everything on the drive, and started to slow down dramatically. What Windows could possibly be doing with a 15-18 gig page file when nothing is open, is anyone's guess. (This is WITH 16 gigs of ram available for Windows to use)
Loving this video card
Pros: Fast: I'm really doubting that I /can/ throw too much at this card. Going from an overclocked 5850(Which was a darn good workhorse for the ~130 I bought it for), to this was not /dramatic/, but the performance is definitely recognizable, and I don't need to worry about settings in some of the newer games at all.
Cons: Not much, would have probably liked to catch it with the price a little bit lower, but I'll live.
Never going back
Pros: Fast: I went from a computer with a run of the mill 7200 rpm HDD, to this for my games, a 64 gig SSD for the OS, and a 500gig 7200 rpm for media/things I don't care about speed in. The difference is incredible. Hearts of Iron 3, Victoria 2 would both take a good 5 minutes to load on my old computer, and now load very nearly instantly. Load times are simply non-existent with anything I do.
Cons: Price: I'm conditioned to HDD prices, so I was a bit leery of spending this much money on storage. It was worth it, but still felt meh, after spending just under a dollar per gigabyte.
