This review is from: ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Well, it does everything it's supposed to do. It was easy to install and has a fantastic looking BIOS with plenty of options. No driver issues with Windows 8.1
Cons: It has a frozen clock. This means that when I turn the computer on, it shows the exact time when I turned it off. This is quite annoying and Windows (unlike Linux) NTP client is not configured well by default.
Will be trying to return it.
Cons: Ordered two. One was dead on arrival, promptly got replaced by Newegg. Added them to my RAID array and another one failed after 11 months of light use. Avoid.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: D-Link Xtreme Gigabit Router (DIR-655) Wireless N300, USB SharePort, Gigabit
Pros: Good interface, which is rare among hardware makers. Easy to set up. Good wireless range.
Cons: Sluggish built-in DNS server ruins everything. This router takes 240ms (on average) to resolve a DNS query. Sometimes it would return nothing (a browser would respond "could not find newegg.com"). That makes for a very mediocre web surfing experience.
It registers itself as a DNS servers to all LAN machines by default, because "DNS relay" option is on. But if you turn it off and configure your ISP or Google/OpenDNS DNS servers, then Apple Bonjour servers disappear from your local network.
Long story short: this router has a very slow and buggy built-in DNS server.
Other Thoughts: Another problem is that open source firmware does not run on it.READ FULL REVIEW
