Good buy
Pros: Nice weight for a 17" model Awesome specs (wanted an i7 but this is good too!) Comes with drive kit (for adding 2nd HD; wish I could run them in a raid 0 config; oh well) nVidia's Optimus *does* make the battery run longer Blu-ray drive
Cons: 5400 rpm drive (seriously couldn't pay the 35 cents to upgrade to a 7200 rpm drive??) No boot menu/nor bios menu when rebooting (does not effect a cold start); maybe fixed in a bios update? Chiclet-style KB (not a problem since I have a usb one.
Overall Review: All-in-all a good purchase
I'm not getting the clicks, but...
Pros: Good size & price (if not for the cons).
Cons: My first sign of trouble was I was not able to perform a full (non-quick) format of the drive (it would get to about 30% twice before it would just quit). I wanted to run GRC.com Spinrite on it but it would just freeze upon start. Just ran a HD Tune and it's already getting a yellow on "Reallocated Sector Count" so my hopes aren't getting too high now that it'll probably be dead soon.
Overall Review: Never bought a Samsung drive before but none of the other manufacturers had 250gB drives out a few months ago. Probably get a WD now.
Pros: Fast! Lightweight; nice specs, not a lot of bloatware
Cons: Win 8 (guess I'll be using an alternate shell), no optical (no biggie; saves weight)
Overall Review: Great bang for the buck!
Pros: Works as advertised
Cons: None
Overall Review: Running on a win7 laptop; sometime you'll get the error of the driver not installing. Just unplug it and replug it in; should work then.
follow-up
Pros: n/a
Cons: n/a
Overall Review: For those looking for a back-pack, this works nicely for this machine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997362
Pros: Memory Nvidia GT130 Runs very cool Weight Price
Cons: Swapping of Fn/Ctrl keys Speakers a bit tinny
Overall Review: Replace the hdd with a 7200 rpm or ssd and install Win7
