Pros: I purchased this item for a subdivision's security requirements. One of the board members challenged me to find a top notch system at a reasonable price. GW had this system on sale at the time I bought it and I am very happy that I did. The system is reasonably user friendly, and when needed, their Technical Support was absolutely excellent - providing step by step guidance for any issues I ran into. The system came complete - NVR, POE Switch, cameras, wire (lots of it), hardware, manuals and tools. There was no need to go to any hardware store to complete the installation. These guys know what the customer needed and provided it. (Way to go, GW!)
Cons: The manuals are in "rough" English (for those of us here in the USA), but usable.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Compact unit with a power plug that you can rotate 90 degrees to suit your needs. Very easy set up, once you get by the error in the manual. (See "Other Thoughts").
Cons: The manual needs updating. Technical Support was extremely quick and helpful, thus keeping me from getting frustrated.
Other Thoughts: I obtained the HT-WR01 to work as an access point for my network. My modem and main router are located on the 2nd floor of my house at the north end and I needed a stronger signal on the first floor at the south end.
Let's start with the manual. Users like me that want to use this unit as a Wireless AP would flip the manual to page 07 where you see for the first time “D. Configure the Wireless AP Mode”. Step (D)1 is correct but Step (D)2 refers to steps A3 and A4. It REALLY needs to refer to steps A2 thru A4. That is where my problem was when I attempted to set up the unit. I contacted HooToo technical support and received clarification within hours - quite fast. Once I executed all the steps A2 thru A4 and then jumped to D3, etc., all went very well. Actually, it was much easier than I thought it would be.
Also, the manual is printed on a small booklet with tiny letters. I am an older person and my eyes are not as good as they once were. I would recommend one of two options. A) Print the manual on larger paper or B) Make an electronic copy (PDF) of the manual available so that the user can print it in any size they want or need. For me, Option B is preferred.
I give the product 5 stars for the hardware. The manual would get 3 stars.

Pros: The Quick Start Guide (QSG) is the best doc to work with to get set up. The manuals that come on the CD are full of great detail, but the QSG will get you up and running faster than you think. The QSG comes in the box and is in small print, so old folks like me get the PDF version from their web site so it can be magnified for easy reading. I was able to connect wirelessly and can now see images and control the camera from my Droid cell phone. I did not use the phone software that was suggested in their manuals, but instead got a fully functional version from the Play Store (for FREE) and am extremely pleased with the results.
Also - this camera works well in the dark. It can see better than the human eye can see in a dark room, great for security situations.
Cons: Now that I have been playing with this camera for over a month, I have to say that I have no cons to suggest.
Other Thoughts: I'm looking forward to setting up the two that I bought in strategic places in my home for security purposes. However, this would make an excellent baby monitor, as it has a microphone and motion detection capabilities to notify a parent of an awakened (or distressed) child.READ FULL REVIEW
