Turtle Beach Ear Force XP400 Wireless Dolby Surround Sound + Wireless Chat Gaming Headset
Turtle Beach Ear Force XP400 Wireless Dolby Surround Sound + Wireless Chat Gaming Headset

Pros: I like the fact the headsets are comfortable, wireless, but the biggest plus in looking at the XP400 was the rechargeable batteries. Not a lot of wires in the setup. Setup was quick and easy. It was also nice that the headset was already paired with the transmitter fro the factory. Only used it for a few days but construction seems to be solid and of quality. I wouldn't chuck them across the room or drop them from any considerable height. I'm not an audiophile, but after playing several hours of MW3, I can say that I could hear things I normally would have on my receiver (I'm in a condo and have neighbors). I could hear footsteps, the direction of foot steps, but I could also hear a lot of the ambient sounds from certain maps.

Cons: One of the things I noticed right away in setting up the headset was the absence of the Xbox 360 HD / analog adapter. If you're like me and still have you're old MS component cables with the optical cable option, the end that fits into the console is to big to allow that adapter and the HDMI cable to coexist peacefully. I am within the recommended 30 feet of the transmitter and while playing MW3 I have heard some popping or drop outs in sound. I have not adjusted the setting to try to see if this is the issue. I would say for the most part, pretty solid and runs like a champ so far.

Overall Review: One of the reasons I started looking for a headset was because I live in a condo and unlike my neighbors I try to be somewhat courteous and keep the volume down when I play my games. Granted, I miss out on using my receiver, but this headset seems to do the job for me. I have not tried the chat feature so I really can't comment on that feature. Everything else seems pretty solid and I enjoy using them. I would recommend them to a friend or give this as a gift. Looking forward to getting a lot of use out of them.
