4 out of 5 eggs Mac does not allow this to boot 03/30/2015

This review is from: SAMSUNG 1TB USB 3.0 Portable SSD T1

Pros: Spent some time with this. It is really fast. I attached it to a 2014 macmini usb3.0 port. I have another 3 ssd's attached to this mac mini via a hi end 4 port thunderbolt enclosure. I did various reads and writes of this ssd. I got great speeds about 340 mbs read and write. This drive out performs 3 different thunderbolt enclosures I know in a real world copy test of an EyeTv folder with 192gb of tv shows on it.
I copied the 192gb to this drive in 11 minutes and 24 seconds.
This is truly a good drive for video copying.

Cons: Down side and it costs a star I actually would take 2 stars but that would be a little harsh. It does not boot for mac's frankly for me I would not use it since I need external booters for my mac's. Second is the Cost is too high buying a small msata case and a samsung 1tb msata is 100 usd cheaper and it will allow booting. It would be slower then this so if you really want to copy and move video files this is a little better.

Other Thoughts: Annoyed that the lack of booting for Mac's is not clearly pointed out. I can see a lot of people returning it. Once it does not boot. I run many macs for many years and external booting gear has been something I look for and want.
Now that macs are making the internal drives very difficult to upgrade after market samsung really missed the boat not letting this boot. So if you want long copies of video files this is the right gear to have.
If you want a good external portable external booter this is not for you. Please do not buy it you will look to return it.

Below is the reason for this am quoting a review from Gregory P. Eggxpert Review made on the 250gb model.

"Limited a bit by the USB 3.0 interface.
In case you haven’t been keeping up, USB comes in a few flavors that are all supported by this drive: USB2.0, USB3.0, and USB3.0 +UASP. That last UASP mode involves something called “SuperSpeed” or “Usb Attached Scsi Protocol) which has a 5 Gbit/sec data rate translating to a bit over 4 Gbit/sec payload throughput. The thing to know is that you only get native +UASP with USB3.0 ports on a Windows 8 or OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion(2012) or later. If you have a stock Win 7 box with USB 3.0 (majority of machines out there) you will be limited to about 280 MB/sec. USB2.0 gets you about 49/45 MB/sec. USB also tends to prevent you from taking advantage of Samsung’s RAPID caching mode available on their internal drives (though TurboWrite is supported) which makes sequential writes a bit slower than an internal EVO. Ditto for automatic TRIM. SMART may also be limited based on what software you are using.

Easy drive setup requires software installation.
Drive comes with an exFAT initial partition that is used for a Win/Mac compatible set up upon first connection.

{ For instance, on a Mac this installs an additional kernel extension. } >> My opinion = does not support booting.

Some people might not like this, but once the drive has been setup by the user, you do not need proprietary software to access the drive unless you opt to switch on the password protection."

My take is that The kernel extension on the mac is on the os drive thus the samsung t1 will not show as a booter.

Please don't buy these thinking you can boot a mac with them.

Later I will run these with my windows systems to see what they will do.

I so wanted to get this gear to boot for me as a yosemite os for all my macs.
Note I am only human so if someone gets these to boot macs please let us know how.

5 out of 5 eggs This may not be the ssd you want. 03/30/2015

This review is from: SAMSUNG 1TB USB 3.0 Portable SSD T1

Pros: Small looks good.

This is a fast hey I can not get it to be a boot drive on my mac heads up. I will do a long review in a day or two.

Cons: I got this about 1 hour ago this is a very quick heads up for Mac Users. So far I can not get this to be an external booting drive. I gave it 5 stars because I can not give it stars. Or incomplete. But if you want this to boot for your mac wait for my next review I will try all the tricks I know.

Other Thoughts: I am a Eggspert reviewer. With many ssds on hand. This is a very fast snap shot review. If you want this to boot on a mac I do not think it will.

Corsair Gaming MM200 Mouse Mat - Standard Edition

5 out of 5 eggs Nice Mouse pad 03/01/2015

This review is from: Corsair Gaming MM200 Mouse Mat - Standard Edition

Pros: It is smooth surface. Works really well with my corsair sabre gaming mouse.

Size is about 14 by 11 big but not too big. Came in a good looking tube. The tube is nice and can be used for a lot of other purposes. back to the mouse pad. I had a rose-xxxx a little smaller and a little less money. Head to head comparison of both pads reveals a nicer more slippery surface on the corsair. Not to mention it matches up well with my corsair mouse and my corsair keyboard. If you game having this mouse pad with the corsair sabre rgb ch-900090 mouse and the corsair k40 keyboard you have a nice corsair based gaming trio. looks good and works well. Price is decent.

Cons: The tube was sealed so well it kept a chemical smell.

Other Thoughts: Corsair has made good gear for pc gaming and pc's in general. I will continue to use them.
