Sweet Little Box

AOpen XC Cube EX661L Intel Socket 478 SiS 661FX Barebone
AOpen XC Cube EX661L Intel Socket 478 SiS 661FX Barebone

Pros: * Small * Light * Quiter than the Dell 4600 I scavenged tha parts from. Amazingly quiet. * Excellent Build Quality * Easy access and installation if you use your head and read the included booklet. * 275W P/S not 200W

Cons: * Price could always be lower but this is the best deal going. * SATA drives are becoming the norm and this board actually has SATA ports but the bios doens't have them. Haven't tried updating the BIOS as others have mentioned since I have plenty of non-SATA drive laying around

Overall Review: Config: 2.8Ghz P4 1GIG DDR400 (patriot cheapo dual channel) 40 GIG WD HD ATI Radeon 9800 PRO It seems to be handling my old Radeon 9800PRO without any problems. The 3DMark scores were on par with befoee (5500ish). The memory performance tests had a poor showing but I sure feels faster. I'm building another box this week as a media center setup. I'll post another review when I'm done with that.

Most Critical Review

Doesn't work for DV Capture

SYBA 2 Ports PCI-E IEEE 1394A Firewire Card Model SY-PEX30001
SYBA 2 Ports PCI-E IEEE 1394A Firewire Card Model SY-PEX30001

Pros: None, doesn't work

Cons: Lousy hardware. Can't capture video from my Canon HV20.

Overall Review: I contacted SYBA support and was told "Please go to your device manager and make that this card shows up in there with no yellow exclamation point next to it. If the yellow exclamation point is there then please try to update the driver for the card by using Windows own set of drivers. I believe you will need to use the legacy driver." But this did nothing to fix the problem.
