Pros: Fast via USB 3.0
Cons: Power supply quit just before 3 yr warranty. Yes... I could contact Syba. But the device itself still works. I just have to replace the power supply.
Usually it's stationary, but I needed to bring the dock to a client for backups. Make sure the green light on the supply is OUT, before disconnecting from the dock!!!
Other Thoughts: When I disconnected the power supply yesterday, I disconnected the cord from dock first. Usually I power down the entire power strip. (allowing the capacitor inside the power supply to naturally discharge).
If you think about it, they're pretty cheaply made. I have 1 amp converters that way significantly more (Higher quality). The same quality in 4 amp would theoretically weigh more. A replacement supply costs about $7. Why do that when I can fashion a replacement from spare parts laying around :p
Pros: I've had this drive for over 2 yrs. Not one coaster. Every bit as good as an NEC 7200S, which is a die hard.
My tower is highly cooled. Perhaps that's why 9/10 of my drives live long lives :)
Other Thoughts: Richard S. is wrong. I run Windows 7 64 bit. There is NO Problem with my drive, and being recognized.
This drive replaced a WH10LS30. It quit burning reliably after 30 or so discs. It still reads good, so I use it. The WH12 hasn't had one hiccup. Perhaps Richard simply got a defective drive :p
Pros: Packaged extremely well by newegg! Clearly, their shipping department got the memo, to start packing better :) tiny newegg box, within a box. And the Hard drive was wrapped very nicely in bubble wrap. Diggin it!
Survived the 9.5hr long format.(yes, I do that)
Cons: Um..... it's not a petabyte drive :S
Other Thoughts: I currently have it connected to a USB 3.0 Syba Dock - SYBA CL-ENC50038 (Also bought here). Zero faults at present. Loving it. The drive is more than matching the WD1001FALS, WD20EARS drives. VERY happy buyer here.
Thanks again Newegg!
