Pros: I've had this drive for over 2 yrs. Not one coaster. Every bit as good as an NEC 7200S, which is a die hard.
My tower is highly cooled. Perhaps that's why 9/10 of my drives live long lives :)
Other Thoughts: Richard S. is wrong. I run Windows 7 64 bit. There is NO Problem with my drive, and being recognized.
This drive replaced a WH10LS30. It quit burning reliably after 30 or so discs. It still reads good, so I use it. The WH12 hasn't had one hiccup. Perhaps Richard simply got a defective drive :p
Pros: Packaged extremely well by newegg! Clearly, their shipping department got the memo, to start packing better :) tiny newegg box, within a box. And the Hard drive was wrapped very nicely in bubble wrap. Diggin it!
Survived the 9.5hr long format.(yes, I do that)
Cons: Um..... it's not a petabyte drive :S
Other Thoughts: I currently have it connected to a USB 3.0 Syba Dock - SYBA CL-ENC50038 (Also bought here). Zero faults at present. Loving it. The drive is more than matching the WD1001FALS, WD20EARS drives. VERY happy buyer here.
Thanks again Newegg!
Pros: Price was agreeable, for a USB 3.0 Dual drive dock. It also supports MORE than 3TB :D I suspected it would. GPT is GPT. Of course, it's firmware COULD have been limited, for whatever reason. But it doesn't seem to be. It also is adhering to my Windows command, to not idle. Or, it's simply designed to not idle. But I doubt that. I know my 2.0 dock idles regardless. Which is good, considering a Hot running drive is connected to it.
Current hard drive averages ~100MB/s. But, it is mechanical :p
This little baby will certainly smoke any networked drive ;)
Cons: Feels cheap. But I'm gentle with my goodies :p
Other than that, I can't think of anything negative. AH! Except the super short USB cable. 28 inches from end to end! That's ridiculous! Tempted to dock an egg... but I will not. I could of course get another later.
Other Thoughts: I currently have the WD40EZRX drive connected to it. All is well, and zero faults. Eventually, it will go into my tower, and the dock will service older drives. But, I'm undecided on that one.READ FULL REVIEW
