Amazing 4K Monitor
Pros: -Does 4k and HDR -Sits low on the stand and works great as a monitor -Replacement parts are available for about 50 bucks like another reviewer mentioned. -Costs what you want to pay for a 40" panel!
Cons: -Without firmware updates this tv is a bit underwhelming- make sure you hook it up to the web and update it before you do anything with it. -2x HDMI do 4k60hz, the other 2 only do 4K 30hz
Overall Review: Followup: Make sure you contact Hisense support to get the THIRD firmware. The TV will do 2 updates on its own bringing you to version G0923. Then I had to email them to get the latest version, for some reason it isn't available on their website. This latest firmware will be a version H0148 which enables the highest color gamut over HDMI 2.0. Without this update you'll only be able to run with a 4:2:0 color space at 4K 60hz, after the update I was able to push it to 4:4:4 at 3840x2160 at 60hz. There is a new tickbox in picture settings I had to set for "HDMI 2.0 Format: Enhanced Format"
Not compatible!
Pros: It's black, it's quiet, it works
Cons: It does NOT have a 4 pin 12v plug, making it incompatible with newer mobos that require such a plug to power your CPU (Also called the ATX12v standard - who knew!?). If you're building a new rig and want to save some coin, DON'T do it with this PSU.
Overall Review: It literally had every other kind of plug I needed (PCI express cables and SATA power) but DIDN'T have the 12v 4 pin power plug. :(
Just installed in a 2009 MBP, works great
Pros: I used this RAM to upgrade a Mid-2009 Macbook Pro. The machine booted fine, I don't use a stopwatch but it seemed a bit faster! Yosemite is recognizing it as 8GB at it's advertised speed of 1066.
Cons: None
Overall Review: This will be the third time I've went with G-Skill and I've never had a problem with their RAM.
Radeon HD 4870 Working as Intended
Pros: -1GB of GDDR5 for $160 -Runs very QUIET even under load -Fat heat sink may get hot but its going to be easy to clean -GPU temp stays cool since I have 2 fans blowing on it and 1 big 120mm fan blowing exhaust out the top of the case. -High FPS in every game I've tested on a 1080p TV (Oblivion, Fallout 3, WoW, Batman: AA, NFS Shift, League of Legends) -The nicest packaging and shwag I've seen with a video card. The leather mouse pad is a nice touch. -Install was EASY. I'm sure part of the reason my install went so smoothly was because I have an ASUS board, albeit an older board (ASUS M2R32-MVP AM2 Socket). But, I've never had problems changing cards as long as I uninstall old drivers first. -I took another Reviewer's advice and used the latest HD4870 drivers from the ASUS website. Once I rebooted after installing the new drivers, the HD4870 had no problems recognizing the correct resolutions on my flat panel monitor and HDTV I have plugged in through a DVI to HDMI converter cabl
Cons: None so far, but I've only had the card for a week.
Overall Review: Even though I don't have PCIe 2.0 I really don't feel like this card is under-performing on a PCIe x16 interface, though I have no way to prove it. It runs all the games smoothly that my Crossfired X1950 Pros were struggling with. I think this card should give me the horsepower I need to run games like Dragon Age: Origins, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 on a 1080p TV. I'm hesitant to buy another 4870 for Crossfire since two cards would require four 6 pin rails and my PSU only has 2. Some people here have complained of heat issues with this card and I can imagine cramming a 2nd card of this size into my case could very easily give me some cooling problems.
