Card is fine but...

Galaxy GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 55NGH8HX4NXK
Galaxy GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 55NGH8HX4NXK

Pros: After running through some tests, card works like you would expect a 550 TI to work.

Cons: All my cons are for newegg. When I ordered a different picture was present for the product. The picture had a galaxy card that took up one slot total. The dell OEM box this is in only has one slot, and it has a large fan shroud for the processor that takes up some of the back room. After measuring the picture compared to the PCI Express slot, we ordered it. After opening the box, the card did not look like the one pictured, it took up two slots and had a large fan shroud. We only made it fit doing things you should never do to a card and voiding the warranty in the process, but it works.

Overall Review: The picture has since been updated to the correct card.

Most Critical Review

Works great for me (UPDATE! It now crashes and ASUS won't respond to my RMA request)

ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Gaming Motherboard
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Gaming Motherboard

Pros: Easy to set up, fast, many overclocking features, XMP setup for RAM, updated bios is fine, RAID works (Stripe with 3SSDs), Running my CAS 10 DDR4 just fine, overclock profiles can be stored in bios, reset button on the board, hosts everything I have with no crashes

Cons: What's funny here is the BIOS wins awards and stuff, but I found it to have some odd navigation, particularly when subscreens inside a tab remember what screen you were on, and the only way to know you're not on the main tab again is press escape and see if the screen changes (i.e. it took me a minute to find the sata config because I was already in a screen that was "past" it inside the tab). This could be resolved by using a breadcrumb of sort.

Overall Review: Get the latest BIOS, right now it's 1001. I made this review because I see some odd negative ones... I get that a board can be bad and should be RMA'd, but some actually worried me that there was a "bad batch" going around, and it was right when I was ordering, but mine is fine. The reports of the "computer restarting and showing the bios screen multiple times" is actually just the flow of the startup, it shows the ROG screen 2x because in the middle it shows an intermediate screen. Even I first thought it was "restarting", but it wasn't. Auto overclocking actually worked for me, but I wanted to fine tune it a bit so I don't use it. UPDATE : Multiple 3d games started to crash with a hard system lock. I have changed everything but the motherboard, processor, and drives. I ordered another non ASUS motherboard as a replacement after ASUS did not respond within a few days to my RMA request. I sent them another followup asking if they have received my RMA request, and it's been 9 days now and nothing... I had rated this motherboard 5 stars, and now I rate ASUS as 1 star.

Worked in my Thinkserver TS140

Nippon Labs HDB-252 Dual 2.5" HDD/SS Plastic Bracket
Nippon Labs HDB-252 Dual 2.5" HDD/SS Plastic Bracket

Pros: Works fine, is plastic. Low in price, comes with screws.

Cons: Metal would be better imo. Allow more of a sink.

Hmm, 2 bad ones so far out of 3

GIGABYTE Radeon R9 290X 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card GV-R929XOC-4GD
GIGABYTE Radeon R9 290X 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card GV-R929XOC-4GD

Pros: My card that works runs well. It seems it can handle anything. This is a 290x with great fans.

Cons: You can see the other quality issues people are having with these and mine was no different. I have sent 1 back to newegg, and am hopefully going to get to send the second back. The first card would black screen randomly, it would last a whole 10 seconds on furmark, and keep in mind I had a working card to compare it to. The second card also does not function, but it will simply not boot into windows while the driver is installed. (again, my other card works fine here in same slot / same everything) And it turns out the card is actually bent! It is missing a screw and the fan shroud is bent as well. After some investigation it appears it was dropped while in the box, you can see the imprints of the card on the inner cardboard of the box. Based on the exterior retail (shiny) box looking great, I would guess this was done at the factory. If you have a problem with your card, examine your cardboard box and card closely.

Overall Review: I just want two that work, hopefully newegg approves the return. I started to think it was my system damaging them but it appears that is not the case... I mean really, who gets TWO bad cards?!?!? Never happened in my life... but reading the reviews here long after buying the card shows it is very possible.
