Excellent supplemental power

Anker 2nd Gen Astro E5 16000mAh Portable Charger External Battery Power Bank with PowerIQ Technology 2-Port 3A for iPhone 6 Plus 5S, iPad Air, mini, Galaxy S6 S5, most other Phones and Tablets (White)
Anker 2nd Gen Astro E5 16000mAh Portable Charger External Battery Power Bank with PowerIQ Technology 2-Port 3A for iPhone 6 Plus 5S, iPad Air, mini, Galaxy S6 S5, most other Phones and Tablets (White)

Pros: Compact Multiple (2) output ports Handy built-in flashlight

Cons: Slow to charge compared with other devices

Overall Review: I use a tablet to hold sheet music for rehearsal and performances. There are two nightmare scenario: 1. The tablet crashes and I irretrievably lose my data (until I get home and can restore from the backup file I have on my PC) 2. I run out of power for my tablet or my bluetooth pedals (which I use to to turn pages on my display). This backup power supply resolves #2 and can keep me running (or playing, in this case) in an emergency. I feel really good about this purchase. I don't often take long trips in situations where I'm not driving, but for the kids' devices, on a plane, on a train, or in a car, this device should be a part of your trip kit.

Decent tablet

ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T-B1-GR NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.60GHz 10.1" 1GB DDR3 Memory 32GB Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Gray Tablet PC
ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T-B1-GR NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.60GHz 10.1" 1GB DDR3 Memory 32GB Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Gray Tablet PC

Pros: Great screen size and resolution, color depth is excellent. Good response/speed in standard mode, good battery life in power-saving mode. Decent improvement in response/speed in "turbo" mode, but not overwhelmingly so. Videos play well. Average number of OEM-included apps.

Cons: After a year of ownership, I've had the unit back in for servicing three times for the same problem and is now facing a fourth repair... There are two latch points on this unit where the (optional) dock connects to the tablet. Inside the latch space, there is a small metal tab that the dock's latches clip around. On my unit, under light usage (connect and disconnect less than 4 times a week), the latch has broken off.

Overall Review: Granted, this part of my review probably belongs under the dock instead of under the tablet. Still, I feel it is important to tell prospective buyers of these problems here before they commit money to buying a tablet that they may also want to use a dock with. I have more experience with ASUS's RMA process than anyone should have, and I'm not terribly happy with their repair process, speed, or effectiveness of this problem...especially since the problem recurs so often under such light use of the dock. I've seen other connector designs like the one ASUS chose for the TF700. Some allow the use of the latch release to help reduce the pressure required to connect the two components. This one does not... The latch release is inoperative until the unit is docked, *after* the latch point has already been stressed. Also, if you root your device and need your device serviced - for just about any reason - be prepared to pay to replace the motherboard. ASUS technicians operate under the noble but occasionally ineffective guidance that no unit sent in by a customer can be returned to the customer in anything less than "out-of-the-box" condition. This includes the OS, even when the problem is purely hardware. When my unit went in on the third repair, I had rooted it and installed a new OS (because ASUS isn't really doing much to release new Android OSes on this product). Even though the problem was STRICTLY hardware - the broken latch point - ASUS felt that it was necessary to replace my motherboard, because once rooted, they will not return it rooted. The pricetag for the motherboard was in excess of $170 alone - plus about $70 for the latch...totaling over 50% of the unit's replacement cost.

An Excellent Tablet

Samsung Galaxy Note 2014 Quad Core 3 GB RAM 32 GB Storage 10.1" 2560 x 1600 Touchscreen Tablet PC Android 4.3 - Black

Pros: Excellent display and bright, vivid colors. Very good sound quality for a tablet. Stylus! Some good built-in apps. Feels solidly built. Quick start-up...about 28 seconds from power-on to login screen. Shut-down is also quick.

Cons: Headphone port recognizes only headphones, not headphones with a built-in microphone (like the ones that would be used with a cell phone). The auto-brightness is overly aggressive in dimming the screen. A quick review of the user manual doesn't really explain the included apps, forcing people to use them to figure them out. Some apps are obvious, some could use at least a short feature description and brief instructions. The device starts up so quickly that almost all the time, apps are trying to access the network before the network module has initialized and connected the device to the network. The built-in weather application/widget does not seem to refresh when the tablet starts up. As I write this review, in fact, my tablet has been on for a half hour and it hasn't updated yet. The "current" weather it shows is from when I last updated it (manually) 3 days go.

Overall Review: This tablet serves my immediate needs. I use the tablet to hold sheet music for my personal practice time, rehearsals with my bands, and performances, so the extra screen space would have been really useful. Still, the 10.1 is fast and with high enough resolution that I can see any play my music. If I had regrets, it would be that I didn't get the Note 12.2 when Newegg had them in stock. In the end, this is a worthwhile device, and I recommend it.

Keyboard and Case - A Good Buy

Removable (Detachable) Bluetooth Keyboard Leather Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition P601 P600
Removable (Detachable) Bluetooth Keyboard Leather Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition P601 P600

Pros: Sturdy construction Black leather or leather-like material should be easy to clean The magnetic flap that holds the case closed also covers the camera port. The keyboard portion is in a magnetized cover so it can be easily removed from the case. The accessories (screen protectors and stylus) are a nice touch. There is access to every port and control on the Note tablet, including the stylus. Because of this, the tablet can be charged without removing it from the case...although the case does need to be opened flat to do so. The Note is held securely in the case so that neither camera is obscured when the case is open.

Cons: I'm not sure this is genuine leather. It didn't smell like leather and there were no leather-specific care instructions that should normally be in the manual of any genuine leather article. The included screen protectors are a MUST. The keys, while comfortable, are rigid plastic rather than rubberized. Over time, they will eventually scratch the screen. There is no place to attach the included stylus (other than my pocket). The magnetized flap that keeps the cover closed is made of the kind of material that will crack over time because it will be repeatedly bent. When the case is open and set for typing, the flap sort of sticks up and is in the way. The only thing to do is to either ignore it or bend it back to be tucked under the bottom of the case...an action which will eventually cause the flap to rip/tear. The better option would be to construct the flap so that it could be inserted or retracted into the case in some way.

Overall Review: Overall, I see this as a good buy. It securely holds and protects my tablet, contains sensible accessories, and I like it. The user manual is, sadly, another example of the differences between Asian and Western languages. I'd urge them to get a fluent English speaker to edit their documentation because right now, the manual looks like a 1970's throw-back, from when the Japanese first started sending products en masse to the West. Also, I was somewhat disappointed that there was no option to expedite shipping...though I realize that from some countries, that may not be possible.

Cable

PQI MFi Certified, Apple approved, Black 1.3 ft. Lightning Connector to USB Cable compatible with the newest iOS 8.1 and beyond - Charge and Sync Cable

Pros: USB 2.0 compatible well-consructed secure connectors (not loose in devices I've used with it) it works

Cons: None

Overall Review: This cable fits into what I call the 'mini-cable' category...that is, longer than 6" and shorter than 2'. It's ideal for connecting external drives, cameras, and phones to a laptop, and it could be useful for certain desktops and towers where the USB port is near the top/floor/table-top. It could also be useful to connect other devices when daisy-chaining. Using decimal points with feet/inch measurements, when not reflecting .5, .25, or .125 have always annoyed me. Who goes around thinking: "I need a cable 1.3' long..."? They would have been better to say, "Just over one foot three and a half inches long." When I measured it, I came up with 1' 4.125" (or for those who like fractions, 1' 4 1/8" long). But, in the end, if you're looking for a short USB cable to connect your device to your computer, this is a good cable.

Works as advertised

ASUS TF700T-DOCK-GR Tablet Docking Station - Gray
ASUS TF700T-DOCK-GR Tablet Docking Station - Gray

Pros: Additional slot for SD card is a much-needed feature for me. It almost goes without saying that the dock's battery is another key feature that most people should agree is a benefit. The included shortcut keys are handy, though I don't use them often.

Cons: The mouse pad is VERY sensitive, causing the cursor to jump around when my thumbs get too close to the pad. Although there is a button to disable the mouse pad, it is quite annoying to have to constantly toggle the switch when composing large messages. It IS that bad.

Good experience

I placed my order and received my product via USPS within the time estimate the seller provided. It would have been nice to have a more rapid shipping option, but I understand that with some overseas sellers, that may not be feasible. Overall, I'm happy with their service.
