good budget card
Pros: MSI quality, DX 11, PhysX, and budget pricing!! Can't beat it. If you are a casual gamer ... this is a great buy! I run Half Life 2 at 1280x1024 with everything on MAX ... runs liquid smooth. GRID set on HIGH runs smooth and looks great! Core Clock / Mem is set a bit higher than the reference speeds which is a plus as well.
Cons: None so far. I don't have any new games to really test this card out, but I'm sure it could handle it as long as you don't run it at some crazy high resolution.
Overall Review: Was looking at an ATI 5770, but the prices just never came down after the 6xxx series release. Saw this price and jumped on it! Was worried if this card would fit my case and if my power supply was up for the task. Everything worked out great. Card fits with room to spare and my power supply's PCIe connector has the 22A requirement the card asks for! I was running the on-board ATI 4250 with a Windows 7 score of 4.3. This card puts it to shame and rates a 7.0 and it should ... on-board video is really crippled for any sort of real gaming. * ASRock 880GHX AM3 USB3 * Athlon II X4 635 (2.9Ghz) * G-Skill DDR3 1600 (F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ) * MSI N450GTS-M2D1GD5/OC GeForce GTS450 1GB GDDR5 * Rosewill Blackbone Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case * Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W ATX12V Ver.2.2 / EPS12V version 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified *SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB *SAMSUNG CD/DVD Burner
Failed after a year
Pros: Good drive while it lasted.
Cons: Stuff started to happen after a year ... Win 7 would freeze for 1 minute and then go back to normal. At times it would lock up, I would reboot, then get an error on post about drive I/O error. I would need to power down then up to get ti working again.
Overall Review: I wanted to give Samsung a try and up to this point everything was good. It was a nice drive. But after the freeze ups and three Win 7 re installs I just had enough.
Perfect card for low wattage requirements!!
Pros: - Probably the best card out there for its TDP of just 30 watts! - DDR5 memory - unlike the other cheaper 1030s out there that use DDR4. - Nice improvement from the onboard Intel 530 graphics of the i5-6500
Cons: - Yeah, don't expect this to run any AAA games. Not really a con - since this card was not designed to do that.
Overall Review: If you have a situation that needs a low power discrete graphics card - then this would be the best choice. Other similar cards can get as low as 40W or 50W. As far as I know - the 1030 is the lowest at 30W. I'm currently using this in a Dell Optiplex 3050 SFF PC (running batocera) - it's an i5-6500 and only has a 180W power supply. The onboard Intel 530 graphics works fine, but I wanted just a little more graphical horsepower for more demanding emulators. This card had a low enough wattage to where I did not need to upgrade the power supply. Fits in the case perfectly!!
8TB Of Cheap Storage
Pros: - 8TB of storage - just a bit over $100 at time of purchase - could not pass it up. - Never had issues with Seagate drives - still have a working 17GB Medalist!! - It's a 5400RPM drive - so data access will be a little bit slower than a 7200RPM drive. If you want speed get a SSD. Use this for archive purposes or storage where you don't really care about load speeds like digital picture storage
Cons: - Sure it's not 7200RPM, 10000RPM, or higher- but really this should be for low demand data access or archive purposes. So not really a CON based on the purpose.
Overall Review: Yeah, I would recommend this drive. I'm currently using this drive in my dedicated retro gaming PC. I don't see any difference loading a small 4K ROM file from this drive, 7200RPM drive, or an SSD. I really need the space more than the speed.
Little wary about ordering a refurbed PC - but kudos to Revive IT!!
Pros: Really clean inside!! No scratches outside - looked almost brand new! All parts advertised were in there Packed securely in the box
Cons: Did not make me a sandwich.
Overall Review: I never ordered something refurbed off of Newegg before, but this Optiplex 3050 SFF i5-6500 at $109 was hard to pass up. I was expecting some scratches / dents for a refurbed PC, but Revive IT came through & did an excellent job!!
Nice upgrade for older PCs
Pros: Added this to my old Asus P4P800-VM motherboard. I was worried about compatability, but I had no issues with this memory.
Cons: I wish I would have waited a couple of days since Newegg dropped the price on these!! Arrrgh!
Overall Review: 2GB upgrade for older P4 system running Windows XP. Makes a big difference from just 512MB ram.
