Disappointingly loud
Pros: It keeps my AMD FX-8350 setup nice and cool
Cons: The noise. The horrible noise. The pump generates the most annoying noise I have ever heard coming from a PC. It can be best described as a low-speed dentist drill and it is by far the loudest thing in my office.
Overall Review: After three days I had to either get rid of it or do permanent damage to my shiny new PC. I have never been so happy to remove a $180 device and replace it with a factory fan/heat sink that came with a CPU. I'm going to have to find a deaf friend to give this to.
No Hardware Encryption
Pros: Decent enternal drive.
Cons: If you buying this, like me, because you have used the excellent Maxtor BackArmor drives in the past you will be disappointed. When they took over Maxtor, Seagate dropped the excellent Maxtor BlackArmor line of hardware encrypted drives and is now plastering the brand on their ordinary external drives. The deceptive part is that they still claim AES256 encryption but that's only available through the bundled backup software (which is not very good)
Overall Review: Deceptive re-use of a recognizable top-of-the-line brand for an inferior product.
