Disappointment above all
Pros: Fast, when it operates properly.
Cons: Like playing "Drop a program on boot?" No? How about "reboot and drop a different program?" Don't like that either? Well reboot is what I have to do, sometimes up to 5 times before my computer boots properly. Then, entire blocks of data disappear, and then, sometimes reappear, but mostly it just disappears.
Overall Review: Too many bugs to make this a useful drive. Updating firmware has been useless. I'm just going back to Raptors so I can count on the data being there ALL the time. Too much upheaval at this time of life to RMA, so I'm taking the loss. OCZ will not be getting my business again.
Dual or Quad
Pros: I bought this a good while back when it was still 159, thinking it was quad channel. Now I find conflicting evidence and think it is dual channel. Even the newegg site for the ram is conflicted, with the term "dual channel" used on the first page, and "quad channel" used on the second page. So does anyone know with certianty what I have here. I don't really want dual channel. It never did make it thru mem86.
Cons: see above paragraph
Lots of issues, so I'll wait.
Pros: speed
Cons: high failure rates
Overall Review: I was actually going to buy a drive tonite, but after seeing the high percentage of folks having failure issues, and the inherent headaches that causes, I'm going to stick with my old velociraptors for a while longer. Looks like all the manufacturers are having issues, but OCZ's reputation may be too parfumed at this point. Still, I will enjoy thew speed when the quality gets more consistent.
